Would Nash to the Flyers worry anyone?
Hockey Break on twitter mentioned JVR, Read and Bobrovsky going back the other way.
I for one would love to see that happen because Read and JVR are going to be really good players and Rick Nash would replace Gaborick as the most over-rated player in the Atlantic.

Is Read 26 year old or something like that? He is not exactly a prospect anymore, eh? But looks like a pretty crappy deal for the Flyers. Both goaltenders should be a top priority to move though.

Not enough for Nash. No, not really. They already have a lot of offensive firepower, what's a little more? Read has already peaked basically, he's a WYSIWYG type of a guy and JVR has good potential of course...but what are they losing there with those two guys? 40 or 50 goals from their lineup? And adding, what, 40 or 50 goals? But Nash costs twice as much as JVR...
Ah, go nuts...

read was an undrafted UFA pick up turned into a trade commodity. much respect to holmgren on finding that gem.

No --- Flyers have bigger needs to address, offense isn't their weakness.

However, I would be a bit more worried if Ryan Suter ended up a Flyer.

Suter says he doesn't want to play for them. Weber is RFA, so fairly unlikely I'd think.

I feel for Rick Nash, getting drafted by a dead-end club like colombus

He signed an 8 year contract with that team when he was a UFA. Why would you feel for him?Headshot77 wrote:I feel for Rick Nash, getting drafted by a dead-end club like colombus

Say what you want but Nash is a beast. He just dwarfs other players in size and is simply dominant on the puck especially along the boards. Guys just bounce off him. He's a very good player that is a bit overpaid.

Re: Would Nash to the Flyers worry anyone?
He is done, but he was 35 when he signed, so he can't retire or the Flyers are stuck with his cap hit. This way, they can leave him LITR and balance him with a guy like Coburn.Lesky wrote:Is Pronger officially dead yet by the way?

He's overpaid and overrated, and also a lying piece of crap that tried to throw his team under the bus when he requested a trade and then tried to act "shocked" to hear he was being shopped. Not a high caliber person and his hype is greater than anything he's done in the NHL to date. I'd take James Neil and his contract over him any day.Pavel Bure wrote:Say what you want but Nash is a beast. Nash is simply NOT some big impact player and after all the hysteria dies down when he gets moved, people will realize he's simply a "good" player that will never be "great" or even top-10 in the NHL. Nothing wronf with being really good but he's hardly a "franchise" type talent.

The food scene in Philly is infinitely better than Columbus, so I say make it happen.

Parise on the Pens would be more deadly than Nash on the Flyers. That said, Atlantic Division is easily the best division in hockey.
