I think they'll pay as much as anyone else offers to keep him. Whether Suter decides to stay or leave comes down to him, but I'd put the chances of him staying as greater than 50%. He already stated last year that Nashville was a great place to raise a family and that was the most important thing to him, and now I think he's simply looking for the maximum return possible before he re-ups. Preds have the money to spend big on him and I think they'll do it.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger

Bobby Ryan and Rick Nash linked. Same teams in on both, so, if one goes, the other may move soon after.
So much for a Staal/Ryan trade. :)

I could see the Flyers in on Ryan since he is from Cherry Hill, NJ.

The Flyers have always coveted Ryan, since his days in Owen Sound...

Shero should intercept the call and refer to the player as "that kid who played in Cherry Hill" and send them Tangradi for whoever they were going to send back for Ryan :)

If Flyers get Ryan, I'll be pissed. I'm almost wishing they get Nash due to his huge contract.

Ryan would make the Flyers better. I'd actually worry on that one if it happened.

Reports on twitter say Boston GM Peter Chiarelli said Tim Thomas has waived his NTC. Says he still plans to take the season off "at this point".

Yeah, sure he does.

Little tidbit here, that's almost kind of former Pens related: I've heard the Stars won't offer a qualifying offer to Michael Neal (James' little brother - terrible at hockey) or Angelo Esposito. Both will be UFAs on July 1.

Maybe I'm out of date on Ribiero, but seems like he's more valuable than that...

Honestly, it's not a game changer, but it definitely makes the Caps better at center. Losing Semin and Knuble retiring means they still have work to do, though.

Caps inquired about Staal and were told he wasn't available.

Visnovsky to Isles for a 2013 2nd round pick. If he can stay healthy, he could really help the Isles.

Ducks must be planning to make a big move in UFA by shedding Vish's salary.

Benoit Pouliot (already traded, so he will eventually I'm sure), Guillaume Latendresse, Eric Fehr and Nick Johnson all will not be qualified and will be UFAs.

Not sure what to think. JVR is due for a big breakout, Schenn hasn't impressed me much but he was playing for Toronto.

Hmm, Leafs need a defensemen now...

Nah, the Leafs moved a d-man because they had too many. They might re-tool, but they aren't adding any sort of big name. They will pursue Justin Schultz certainly, though. An entry-level guy. JVR bigger upside, certainly. Schenn has fallen on hard times a bit, but can be a legitimate second-pairing shutdown guy...a human eraser of sorts, should fit in well in Philly. On pure potential, advantage Toronto though. But potential is just that...

I believe they will get Bobby Ryan, but I'm almost concerned about what they'll give up for him...running out of tradeable assets - that is, if you don't include all the ones you just got in the last 35 minutes...Holmgren/Flyers never a strong affinity for draft picks though...so who knows...
