I love Geno. What a guy. Dedicates his MVP to Gonch. He's so humble.

Re: NHL Awards 2012
yea, what the hell is that about? Seriously, we had to put up with nickelback for 5+ minutes, but geno doesnt get more than 1 minute to say thanks for the damn MVP?PensFanInDC wrote:wtf? Lets roll credits over the equivalent of the acceptance speech of Best Picture.
Anyways, not sure about the rest of you, but after geno thanked gonch all i thought about was how the pens have to bring that guy back to the pens organization once he hangs them up like they did with billy g.

That acceptance speach was awesome. Even with the broken english, credits rolling, and the 25 seconds it seemed like he got.

Re: NHL Awards 2012
I hated the show. It was a trainwreck. The biggest laugh of the night was when Geno said he'd read the same speech. Half the freakin presenters cant say the names of the nominees. I mean how hard is it to learn 3 names.
Perfect example of second rate league the NHL has been and will be for the foreseeable future.
On another note, Geno, so humble with the Gonch shout out..

If I remember last year they all had a big problem with all the names too.

Re: NHL Awards 2012
Considering Vince Vaughn is a real hockey fan, I'm surprised he screwed up Evgeni. But I think he was hungover. That might have been the problem.

Re: NHL Awards 2012
it wasn't all bad. I though the shannahan things were pretty funny. I kind of hated how much attention they have lundquist all night. I mean we get it, the guy dresses nicely... they don't have to continue to mention it.Fire0nice228 wrote:I hated the show. It was a trainwreck. The NHL THINKS that they know how to do this, how to present a glitzy awards show.Fire0nice228 wrote:I hated the show. It was a trainwreck. They clearly don't.
The NHL THINKS that they are funny and hip. They are neither.
The show was not funny, it was not smooth, it reeks of (sorry, I really don't mean this in a derogatory way) bad Canadian humor. WHO do they get to produce this event? They've gotta find a new producer, maybe someone with some NFL experience, who can make this show the top-notch event that it should be, but is not. anywhere. near. top-notch.
Love that Geno remembers those who helped him along the way. Fred Rogers would be proud. Congrats to #71 on a great night.

Re: NHL Awards 2012
i think this show should go the way of the dinosaurs. end it. just give out the awards after the cup like baseball does. awkward speeches, lame comedy bits and d-rate celebs presenting. totally embarrassing. glad for evergreen malkin however!!

Re: NHL Awards 2012
The problem is with the execution, not the concept.
It was nice to see Geno go full throttle sincere at the end. I'm glad I DVRed it, because the rest was painful.

Re: NHL Awards 2012
Geno needs invited to throw out the first pitch at a Pirates game soon. Preferably Saturday.
