No you're right, I was making a sweeping generalization about the teams and watched the Devils vs Pens and in the finals. I didn't watch the Wild at all.mikey287 wrote:Of course, the Devils haven't been a primarily trap team for nearly a decade now. Clearly evident if you watched their long run this year. And Minnesota hasn't been under Lemaire in some time, traded in most of their "boring" pieces for "exciting" pieces like Tom Gilbert ( ) and have opened up into a much more offensive team for years now...jimjom wrote:NJ to Minny -- either way Parise is a standout player on a boring club.

I assume that they are intending to spend some money on July 1.CapGeek @capgeek
With Darren Helm signed, the #NHL #RedWings still have $24.1m in cap space with 19 roster players under contract.

Re: NHL Transactions and News - 2012 Offseason
eh. yeah, they'll be good, but part of why they have all this cap space is because their roster isn't really that great. i say this as someone who's not a giant suter fan, but it seems like him for lidstrom is at best a lateral move. and i don't think it's even that considering lidstrom's intangibles in that organization.Malkamaniac wrote:Suter/Parise and the that team gets ridiculous.columbia wrote:I assume that they are intending to spend some money on July 1.CapGeek @capgeek

parise would certainly be a big time addition, but i don't think it's enough to promote them to "ridiculous"
i'd be more worried about NEXT year when they can swoop in on another batch of FA's

They made it to the play-offs this year with a not really great roster. Parise/Suter plus additions will make that team great.shmenguin wrote:eh. yeah, they'll be good, but part of why they have all this cap space is because their roster isn't really that great. i say this as someone who's not a giant suter fan, but it seems like him for lidstrom is at best a lateral move. and i don't think it's even that considering lidstrom's intangibles in that organization.Malkamaniac wrote:Suter/Parise and the that team gets ridiculous.columbia wrote:I assume that they are intending to spend some money on July 1.CapGeek @capgeek

I think Detroit's GM's are some of the best in the game. If there are people that can replace those losses, it's those guys.shmenguin wrote:losing lidstrom and stuart is significant

Re: NHL Transactions and News - 2012 Offseason
They'll do their best, but their blue line is taking a giant hit. They aren't just losing those two, they just lost Rafalski a year ago. You don't lose 3 quality veteran guys like that and replace them.Malkamaniac wrote:I think Detroit's GM's are some of the best in the game. IIRC, Holland once quipped that when Lidstrom retires, he will too as there is no replacing him...

Re: NHL Transactions and News - 2012 Offseason
I'm with shmenguin on the Wings. They have to make some big signings just to keep their status as a contender. They've lost 3 of their top 4 d-men in the past two seasons, with one of them being one of the best to ever play the position. None of their key offensive guys are young either. I'm sure they will make some big moves that will keep them in that category of legit Cup contenders, but I don't think even signing Suter and Parise would put them in the pole position of Cup favorite.

Re: NHL Transactions and News - 2012 Offseason
Sens D Erik Karlsson signs for 7 year, 45.5m.
Not sure I make that deal. One season of 78 points isn't worth 6.5m until 2019.

Just think if his defense actually comes around and he stops being a forward ![Popcorn :pop:](./images/smilies/popcorn.gif)

Re: NHL Transactions and News - 2012 Offseason
I don't follow the Western teams all that much. Are the Red Wings planning to bring back Kyle Quincey? I'm sure that they will go all in for Suter on the 1st. I heard they will actively pursue prospect Justin Schultz if he becomes a free agent on the 1st also.
PS-With Harding resigning with Minny can we whore them with a Lovejoy for goalie prospect Johan Gustafsson trade?![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Suter is going to entertain offers in UFA come July 1st, according to Poile. He seems pretty confident that that he ain't leaving as he also stated he wasn't going to trade his rights away before July 1st unless something changes. Sounds like he has told Suter/agent that he'll match any offer Suter may receive.

Re: NHL Transactions and News - 2012 Offseason
Its probly one of those deals where he will field offers than give NSH a chance to make it work. Without worrying about Radulov you have to think NSH has some more flexibility?
