I don't want to get drawn into this argument again, but I look at someone's whole body of work. I believe he did a ton of good in his lifetime, but later in his life, failed horribly when he could have done the right thing. I look at his legacy by taking EVERYTHING he did, good and bad, over the last sixty years. I think he was a good man that really crapped the bed morally and in terms of leadership with the Sandusky case. Why is that so hard to understand?

If you think his legacy should be 100% about the Sandusky case, and all of the good he did over many decades should be completely erased due to that, then more power to you. That's just not the way I think.

He did great things for his players, his community and PSU. But this case shows when push comes to shove, he was phony and a terrible person.....turning a blind eye on a serial pedophile because of the potential bad publicity is disgusting. And anyone here that thinks he did everything he was obligated to do by reporting to his "superior" is deliberately naive.

How many times does it need to be said that NO ONE here is saying that. Just drop it so we have a place to discuss and follow this trial. NO ONE is absolving Paterno, just not bothering to harp on it because it was already discussed in a thread that got deleted. This is about the on going trial. Had Paterno still been alive and testifie in this, okay maybe thats a discussion we can have. But this thread was fine until someone keeps making comments which is looking more and more like an attempt to troll.
