i will say this though...teachers talk about their jobs all. the. time.
but it's not just complaining - they talk about everything good and bad.

I agree. Although I like to complain about teachers complaining and ignore everyone else.Troy Loney wrote:Lol...all people complain the same amount. NAN complains about his coworker chewing his gum, shad complains about everything..etc. I know atleast one teacher who complains all the time and a couple that i've never heard complain...complaining has nothing to do with the teacher profession.

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
there's just something about a teacher that when they're snooty in public it just bothers me so much more than if a lawyer or doctor does it. many of my favorite day to day encounters are with teachers but recently i was annoyed by one and i couldn't stop myself from getting down on teachers and imagining them all conversing together about how stupid parents are and just generally imagining them all as patronizing. it's obviously not true, but maybe there's just a little truth that talking at kids all day can slip into some of their personalities and when it happens it's more annoying than when anyone else does it because you're trusting your kids with them. and you're somewhat forced to.newarenanow wrote:I agree. It annoys me how teachers seem to rub it your face that they get the summers off.

I understand that when you have your kids at one of those yogurt bar places that they are going to want every topping on their sundae. But please keep in mind that there are people behind you with yogurt that prefer a cookie dough sundae as opposed to cookie dough gazpacho. K?

Is the dog sleeping thing a new trend? I've noticed that a lot lately.DudeMan2766 wrote:I woke up today and got on facebook. A picture of someones car they are working on, a picture of someones dog just lying in the corner sleeping, the first of what im sure is at least 8 pics of this girls 3 year old just sitting there, and someone posting a very aloof status that makes you think they're talking about a person they're dating, or seeing, but wont just come out and say it. its not facebook it self, its these idiots who use it for these perposes. Not just these purposes, but for these purposes over and over and over and over, day after day.
I havent deleted facebook, and probabaly wont because it is a source of entertainment while bored at work or sitting around. I rarely post statuses unless its something funny or a picture that will get a good conversation started and help get me thru the day.
The baby pics are usually done by the usual suspects that have since been unsubscribed from, yet somehow still sneak through the settings that I have. Sorry, but I can only take so many pics of Little Jimmy staring away from the camera, yet you the Facebook poster (not you DudeMan, but the offenders of this pet peeve) seem to think this is some magical, historic moment. If this were for his/her birthday, the holidays, etc., I would understand it. But this happens three or four times a day at least five days a week.

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
I have one related to my work. Cases on the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County are assigned numbers in the format of [type of docket]-[two-digit year]-[number]. Thus, the 1000th case filed on the general civil docket in 2012 would be numbered GD-12-001000. The last number always includes six digits, and the interface for the Allegheny County Department of Court Records (which we lawyers all still call the Prothonotary) requires the leading zeroes. I hate it when people don’t include those leading zeroes and I can’t just copy and paste a number over.

I hate when people drive slowly in the passing lanes and then once you pass them move over into the right lane. Makes me madder than if they hadn't moved over at all...

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
I've noticed this over the last few weeks that people in our office have a phone voice, where they go from talking in a normal voice to talking like Billy Mays once they pick up the receiver. Guy beside me, who is away for the next week-plus, is very guilty of this. What makes this even worse is when they call somebody in the field and because it's noisy on the other end, their voice gets even louder and they're yelling "WHAT?!? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"
I'm getting moved to another floor on Monday so I'm with the rest of my group, and hopefully I don't have to deal with the loudtalkers anymore.

Every treadmill, eliptical, etc at the gym has a tv. And these old timers cant understand HD stations so if people in the row in front of me are watching the same game, or in the case right now, the price is right, I have to either watch on standard def or battle my ocd to not look at their tvs to see what happens since HD is on a delay. Same thing at this bar I go to. Theres a constant echo because these guys only know channels 2,4,7,9. And they get cranky if we change it or tell them to change it even tho its the same thing theyre watching with a better picture.

I hate that people use the word "literally" in the wrong context. Why can't they say "seriously" instead? They are changing the meaning of the word and I think some people really don't know what it means. You see or hear this many times a day!

Guy on the other side of the cubicle from me is hearing impaired. Despite his having hearing aids, his phone is turned up so loud that everyone can hear both ends of every conversation. He also talks 10x louder than the average person.JS© wrote:I've noticed this over the last few weeks that people in our office have a phone voice, where they go from talking in a normal voice to talking like Billy Mays once they pick up the receiver. Yes I realize that making this a pet peeve is mean spirited.

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
Eye doctor's visit this morning, I scheduled my appointment at 8am, first one of the day.
Arrive at 7:54 to sign in, 3 people in waiting room. I look at the list on the desk of appointments, I am #1 at 8:00am.
At 8:00am, they call someone else, one of the 3 in the waiting room before me, at 8:08am, they call the second guy. At 8:13am, I make my move to reschedule the appointment, citing a "work emergency".
The old lady at the desk says "Oh you only have a quick checkup, it'll take 2 minutes, come see the doctor".
I get the checkout and am out the door within 3 minutes, why could they not just let me go at 8:00am? As Larry David once said - what is the purpose of the appointment?

It's easier to keep tabs on what you're reading when you're a registered user as opposed to just casually looking at the site without logging in. I see your gripe though.Sarcastic wrote:Posters who register at LGP and never post. I often see these names of logged in posters on the bottom and I never ever see them post anything.
