Re: Non-Pens NHL Games Thread
Doesn't really work like that in hockey. The two sets of eyes, generally shouldn't be looking at the same thing. In football, there's what, like 7 sets of eyes out there? Sometimes you see 3 flags for the same thing on the same play...in hockey, you rarely see both arms go up and they generally shouldn't...the other ref shouldn't have been watching Clarkson/Brown, not his job. So if the calling ref goes over and says to the other ref, "was it a call?" the other ref shouldn't be able to do more than shrug.Liverlips wrote:I don't care who wins this thing but that boarding call against Clarkson was re-freaking-diculous. The other ref should have overridden the call. That's one thing I wish the NHL would change. The officials seem to have been told once your arm goes up you have to call a penalty. How often do you see corrections in the NFL ("there is no flag for xyz") where they have huddled up and corrected their mistake?
Bad call, especially given the things let go in the game, but it happens. I'm not defending the call itself (again, bad.) but I'll defend the system of refereeing in the game. Refereeing: easiest job in the world with the power of replay from one's couch, hardest job in sports when calling it on the fly.

It really is laughable how horrible the LA sports media is at covering hockey.

Probably a stupid question as I'm sure it wouldnt even cross my mind if the Pens were in this situation but, if you're a Devils fan with tickets to Game 5, probably in the back of your mind knowing this series is still over, are you somewhat just hoping they get it over with in Game 5 so at least you have the what may be a once in a lifetime experience of seeing the Stanley Cup presented in person?

No, you want to see your own team win. The Devils fans, specifically, have seen the Stanley Cup before.DudeMan2766 wrote:Probably a stupid question as I'm sure it wouldnt even cross my mind if the Pens were in this situation but, if you're a Devils fan with tickets to Game 5, probably in the back of your mind knowing this series is still over, are you somewhat just hoping they get it over with in Game 5 so at least you have the what may be a once in a lifetime experience of seeing the Stanley Cup presented in person?

I agree. Judging from the Pens exit no matter what even down 0-3 you can't help but believe theres a slight chance they'll come back. After a 10-3 game 4, i was all in. I guess its easier looking on the outside, and also looking at Johnathon Swift on the other end and not Bryzgalovmikey287 wrote:No, you want to see your own team win. RE: woman behind Deboer:
"I have a friend of mine that brought me the tickets, and it was a really, really nice because it's been a rough year for me," she said. "I wanted to be there, and I just happened to be right behind [DeBoer] at that opportune moment."
The aforementioned "tough year" for Stevens: She battled non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma last year, and has gone through radiation therapy. "I still try to take life and enjoy all the moments that I can. That's why I love going to sporting events. I try to live every day of my life to the fullest," said Stevens.
We speak for a good number of hockey fans when we say Game 4 was the fullest experience we've had in the Final, thanks to you, ma'am.

LOL...she's a porn star:

So much for the "natural vs. fake" argument.
EDIT: Sad to say that this brief incident has been more notable than much of the series. Kings-Devils are just a terrible match up of styles.

So what are the rules when a player is hurt well behind the play and the other team is rushing up the ice? Kings got screwed a bit.
