Re: Therrien is back
Good for MT!
Hopefully he's able to whip that team into shape.
The unfortunate thing is that his best stuff will be given to the Francophiles.
I doubt he'll lose his cool in English.

HCMT! Good for him.
I have to think that MT's Pittsburgh connection and Bergevin being a FOM was a help for him.

Only coach I can think of off the top of my head in this scenario is Paul Maurice in Carolina. In his first year of the second stint, he took the 'Canes to the ECF. But their has to be more examples that I cant think of.KG wrote:I don't like re-hiring a coach that the organization fired already....personally...

Jacque Lemaire left NJ to go to the Wild...then he returned to coach the Devils again. I don't think Lemaire was ever fired by the Devils though...Pensfan2010 wrote:Only coach I can think of off the top of my head in this scenario is Paul Maurice in Carolina. Interesting that Crosby hasn't yet signed an extension with Pittsburgh.

To answer seriously, Al Arbour retired and came back, in Pittsburgh I think Ken Schinkel (sp?) and Eddie Johnston had two stints each, Jacques Lemaire in New Jersey...Chicago has it happen I think as well, but the name escapes me...

Roger Neilson was fired and then rehired by the TML with very little time between.

wait till PK Subban gets an HCMT bonjour by playing wing... ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
I don't know why Hal Gill was snarly about Therrien.
If Montreal wanted to forge a head they should have interviewed and hired Patrick Roy.

I think it was a joke since MT coached for the Habs before?
I like the opening line to his wiki:
I like the opening line to his wiki:
Michel Therrien (born November 4, 1963), is the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League. Prior to that he was a player, then head coach for the Montreal Canadiens and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

I thought you were referring to Arbour's comeback in the mid-2000s for game #1500, but I nearly forgot he was behind the bench until the mid-90s.mikey287 wrote:Pensfan2010 wrote:Only coach I can think of off the top of my head in this scenario is Paul Maurice in Carolina. Who was the coach who "stepped aside" for that, wasn't it Lavey?JS© wrote:I thought you were referring to Arbour's comeback in the mid-2000s for game #1500, but I nearly forgot he was behind the bench until the mid-90s.mikey287 wrote:Pensfan2010 wrote:Only coach I can think of off the top of my head in this scenario is Paul Maurice in Carolina. Re: Therrien is back
Good for FHCMT. I love Bylsma, and his name is rightfully on the cup, but we don't get to that point without having MT first. I had really mixed emotions when I found out the Pens let him go. Deep down I knew it was right, but I didn't have to like it.
