Roman Cervenka to Calgary: 3.775M/year

Post by Tomas »

Cervenka is considered one of those "best not in the NHL" players. 26 years, 130 pts over the last 2 years in the KHL (Omsk)

Edit: The contract value confirmed by Calgary:

1 year, $925K - all the rest is performance bonuses. Calgary wants to rebuild so badly, but Feaster won't swallow his pride.

I vaguely remember him being pretty good in the Olympics and the last couple WHCs.

It is so weird that Calgary refuses to rebuild. Featser is REALLY going hurt that organization in the long haul because by the time he gets around to trading Iginla and Kiprosoff, they will have diminished greatly in value.

So is the cap hit $3.775M?

Seems a little rich to spend that kind of money before July 1...

That's correct, KG. Cap hit counts full until the bonuses are no longer mathematically achieveable. Calgary is going on 20 years of complete mismanagement aren't they? When was Gilmour dealt? 1992? I can't think of better point to pinpoint the unravelling of a franchise that would have had several more Cup Finals appearances and maybe more Cups if they didn't have to go head to head with Gretzky's Oilers every year...I think the only time they managed to get past them (with 99) was when Smith put the puck in his own net, right? It wasn't for lack of talent though, those 80's Flames teams were very good...
