There is some rule about missing the game before or after an all star game due to injury. Neither of the Wings met that criteria (i.e. they didn't go because they didn't want to go).

I'm aware of that... AO doesn't have an injury excuse. Guess he's ok with the league since he was already unavailable (due suspension) for the game before and after.

Maybe the NHL realized suspending players for skipping the ASG doesn't do them any good, came to their senses, and dropped that methodology. All forcing someone to go does is stick you with a guy that doesn't want to be there. No much good comes from that.

Saw that. Should be more than a game. Blatant shot to the head after the play and was retaliatory to an earlier hit.

Now its a race to see who can come up with the more ridiculous defense of that hit: Shannahan or Caps fans. There is absolutely no gray area with that. He was already engaged with another player, didnt have the puck any longer, and Green comes charging in with an elbow direct to the head.

Jeff Skinner suspended 2 games for a dangerous kick.

he gets punished by the league after a boarding incident, and then shortly after, throws a blatant elbow at a guy's head. matt cooke gets unlimited games. shane doan will get 3.
