Ovie has declined because he wont adapt. Engo and Orpik and Letang shut down his rushes with regularity today simply by staying infront of him when he did his cut to the middle when in the offensive zone. Furthermore, I think the fire just isn't there.. after his confrontation with Orpik early in the game, first period I believe, AO wanted nothing to do with Brooks for the rest of the game.

IMO both plays need looked at on a separate scale and both need disciplined accordingly.

Let's see if I still have it down:

Z is easy - $2500 fine.

AO - should be 3 games. Subtract 3 because it's AO. Add 2 because AO has sucked this year and is 30 or 40 something in scoring therefore not an elite player that has to be protected from suspensions right now. 2 game handicap because Shanny is mentally handicapped, putting us at 0. Game was on NBC, so the answer is 1... 1 game, ah ah ah.

I stopped hating Ovy right around the time I stopped hating Pierre McGuire. Just couldn't be bothered to even care anymore about sports media, the Crosby vs. Ovechkin comparisons, etc. Crosby sucks now anyways in the post-season

Actually, I think he has adapted. In terms of producing goals, not winning. I'm far from an Ovie expert, but the puck doesn't seem to be on his stick as often as it used to be. I could be wrong about that. He now seems more content to disappear to lose his defenders--whom he can no longer overpower every single shift.

IMO, the NHL game we've watched the past couple of years is one in which every player can be contained. This is a game that is extremely hard on its stars.
