Finished the Three Philosophers, really enjoyed it. Just sipped a little on the London Porter, very heavy coffee and tobacco flavors. Undecided on it at the moment.the errey i breathe wrote:Just picked up a mix & match six pack.
1. Ommegang Three Philosophers
2. Smuttynose Robust Porter
3. Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout
4. Fullers London Porter
5. Allagash Tripel

Plus the store had a nice 4 pack of pint glasses from Stone Brewery that I picked up. Pretty nice trip. Just poured the Three Philosophers and am enjoying it so far.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I tried the banana bread beer yesterday. I was not that big a fan. It was less full bodied than I expected and was too high on carbonation. A drier finish than I expected too. Had it in a snifter and the smell was fantastic -- definitely the highlight.Eismann wrote:I've seen that everytime at the Jiggle. I'll pick some up.Froggy wrote:2 beer related topics tonight...

Have a Schneider Aventinus Weizenbock for tonight. Can't wait to try it.

Not a suggestion, but felt this was the proper place to celebrate... won tickets to the Penn Brewery's Brew-U this weekend.

I just dominated a 22 oz bottle of Corsendonk Christmas Ale.
I don't know if it's a top 5 for me, but it's easily in the top 10.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Had this last night. Very good. I'd like to try it again and particularly on draft. My experience doesn't seem to line up with most. I smelled cloves, plums, and an almost sour wine smell. There is a bit of a sourness in the taste as well. Great body, nice finish, nice alcohol burn, but I tasted very little malts or caramel flavors as many reviews indicate are present.Kraftster wrote:

Bocks of all kinds are definitely going to be my playground for the foreseeable future.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
So... I've been saving a Growler of Clown Shoes Blaecorn Unidragon for a "special occasion" - I just got off the phone with my sixth (and hopefully final) interview for a pretty cool consulting gig. It went fantastic! So I cracked open the Growler of "Blaecorn Unidragon". WHOA!
It's a Russian Imperial Stoudt. "Heavy" does not describe it sufficiently enough. I poured it into my favorite Pint Glass. (From a Blues club in NY's Greenwich Village called TERRA BLUES) the bouquet is awesome. The color is so dark it could hide a glass full of marbles. It has a bit of a chocolate taste. With an 12.5% Alc. Content it's not something you're going to have a sixpack of, but it's very tasty.

-I opened up the Barney Flat's Oatmeal Stout tonight and so far it's the best of the group. Very nice cocoa flavor with a nice bittersweet finish. Absolutely fantastic.the errey i breathe wrote:Just picked up a mix & match six pack.

-Wasn't a fan of the Fuller's too much tobacco flavor for me, although I think I'm just really sensitive to it. Otherwise it wasn't bad but I don't think I'd get it again

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
i like it, but i'd want an 8 or 10 oz glass of it, not a full pint as it's very sweet and rich.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Penn Brew U was awesome. Got a shirt and a glass (and a sweet diploma). You get 2 tickets for beers. In addition, each table had an assortment of beer to share. This included Dark, Marzen, Kaiser Pils, 7 springs mountain ale and the 25th anniversary Imperial Pilsner.
Lew Bryson was there and talked about his love for Lagers and such. They had some demonstrations on cooking with beer. We got a tour of the brewery, and finished up with a buffet.
The stars of the buffet were the beer braised short ribs and the Chocolate Meltdown Brownies. We were given recipes for both.
All that for free... Was a great time to say the least.
