It really is. The first few eps were OK, but I've really started to enjoy it as of late.

Also, I just found out that XFinity's website has all episodes of The Wire streaming for free. There goes the rest of my month....

Maybe I'll give it a try again. I watched the first 4 episodes, and the first one had me hooked, but the last 3 couldn't keep me there. I purely watched for the Walking Dead trailer.

-Mad men
-House
-Dexter

so what's the next or current great show which is early enough to catch?

i'm not sure i agree with all of the details here, but i guess he's got a lot of it right. though i don't think the show is any worse now than it has been over the last few years.

Well written and I tend to agree with most points. I may be in it to see how they go about ending it, but they cant really drag this on without doing something to mix it up a lot...which is the opposite of what the show is supposed to be. I will keep watching for now, but who knows for how long.

my biggest gripe with the article is that i actually like the james spader character.

the show made 2 critical mistakes over the years:

1) jim and pam went from awkward friends to married with children in like 5 minutes. they should have dated longer, and it shouldn't have gone as smoothly. they had the most interesting story arc over the first 3 seasons, and it quickly turned into the least interesting.

2) at some point, they glam'd everyone up. they used to keep a tight grip on hair makeup and wardrobe - making everyone a bit plain. at some point, they said screw it. at that moment, whatever shred of realism the show had left went out the window.

I kind of agree with the article, and I even stated that last year when Steve Carroll was leaving.

For as much as I love the show, I think at most it would only have 1 or 2 seasons w/o him in the cast.

The show IMO is doing better than I thought, but it's still not the same.

I think it should end next season IMO. Like the writer stated, it's not bad to let a great show get old, but it is bad to let it continue until it's a shell of it's former self.

And I agree that Jim and Pam used to be two of the best characters, and now, they are really bland and don't distinguish themselves at all.

The best parts from the first seasons were the shenanigans between Jim and Dwight...guess you can't keep that up every episode forever, though. The stapler in the jello was amazing. Someone list the other good ones!

With Michael gone the whole awkwardness is as well too. They try to do it with Andy, but...I don't know...I feel as though I am watching a TV show with Andy being awkward instead of actually feeling the awkwardness in the room with Michael.

Yes, Homeland is definitely the best show of the year. Also I'd throw in Game of Thrones obviously. But Homeland is a superior show unless you are a GRRM nerd.

The phone in the ceiling was funny. There are a lot more, but hard to remember.
Stapler in the jello was a direct ripoff from the British version.

I love the string of original shows coming out... Storage Wars: Texas. Cajun Pawn Stars. Rajun Cajuns. Bering Sea Gold. These are all fresh and unique shows. It is a golden era of television.
