Recieved a growler of St Bernardus Christmas ale as an early Xmas present. Gonna be a good day tomorrow
You bastard
I didn't drink it yesterday, I was eating and drinking too much to really enjoy it. Today is much more low key, I just uncorked it it should be good

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Update: The Czar was quite good. Smoother and richer than I expected out of an imperial stout. Complex. Really good w/ chocolate.Eismann wrote:Picked up a couple new ones to try today:

The 38 is also good. A bitter thinner than the Czar, with a simpler taste.

I really like this beer lately. Just a simple beer, but it tastes good and is really smooth.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I was talking to my old boss, who owns a beverage company, a few days ago. He said that a lot of the craft breweries are going to be moving more towards canning their beers instead of bottling. Allows for no light to touch the beer and is cheaper. There's a few companies that have started doing this. This may have been talked about here before, but I thought it was interesting. I don't mind drinking out of a bottle, but wouldn't want to drink out of a can.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I don't like cans at all, even for sodas. A glass is best, although a bottle is OK for certain beers. Like that Grolsch. But my favorite beer of all time, Murphy's Irish Stout, has to be in a glass.MWB wrote:I was talking to my old boss, who owns a beverage company, a few days ago. Agree, glass is the best. Craft breweries probably assume anyone who really likes their beer will be pouring it to a glass anyway.

I'm a beer geek and he obviously has been looking for it, figured I'd hook him up. I've had it a few times - good experience but I prefer bourbon barrel stouts.

60 and 90 are awesome. I'm starring down a 120 I have sitting on my desk, yet to be opened. Trying the Immort Ale for the first time tonight.count2infinity wrote:wow... i want some 120 so bad just to try it. i love 60, love 90 even more.

Enjoy the Immort. Just picked up four more. Having a Long Trail Hibernator right now. Very good. Just had an Otter Creek Black IPA. Ok, but not great. Two Vermont beers.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Anyone tried any local small brews worth seeking out? Just had the Homewood Reserve from East End... Its a wild stout. A little bitter chocolate, which is a really different, but some really nice smoke and malt flavors. Would recommend, especially at $12 for a quart.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I got this for Christmas:
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1549/57747" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I honestly don't know if I can ever open it, as something like this doesn't come my way often.
Has anybody had the regular Goose Island Bourbon County Stout?
I also got 6 of these:

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Had this over Christmas:
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/27039/16814" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Excellent Double IPA. When flooding from Hurricane Irene demolished the old brewery they rebuilt a cannery and now focus on producing Heady Topper in cans. If you can get it, well worth it.
