A player who is a dangerous distance from the boards who has not touched the puck is drilled by a defenseman charging from the blue line and leaping with arms/elbows into his head? I don't believe that.

High hits to players not involved in the play (and thus unsuspecting) that come after a 60' charge -- I can't imagine much that is more dangerous than that.

That hit was absolutely disgusting. Seabrook didn't have the puck, Wisniewski charged in from the blue line and gave him a flying elbow to the head that rammed his head back off the glass. That doesn't happen every game in any level of hockey.

My favorite part was when the Duck announcers started accusing Seabrook of selling the hit to get a call. Idiots.

Yeah, he was. The first time I ever watched that clip I thought the first hit was the hit on Seabrook.

Final verdict: As per tradition, this blockbuster trade between the Canucks and Panthers did not involve any clutch goaltenders.

The trade: The Canadiens trade Jaroslav Spacek to the Hurricanes for Tomas Kaberle.
The view from Carolina: Spacek fills a critical need for the Hurricanes blueline, in the sense that he is a hockey player who is not Tomas Kaberle.
The view from Montreal: You have to give the Canadiens credit for being much more responsive than the Maple Leafs when you complain about the head coach, according to Kaberle's dad.
Final verdict: When it was pointed out that Kaberle has an additional two years left on his high-priced contract, Pierre Gauthier told reporters "Yes, I'll definitely have to deal with that when I'm general manager here during the 2013-14 season" before laughing sarcastically and then going back to updating his resume.

For as much crap as roenick gets, that was one of the better discussions of the issue.
To be hopeful for a moment, perhaps the Pens are taking the extreme caution position in a way that will actually ensure Crosby's LT future in the league? They weren't specifically discussing that, but it's historically obvious that players have had numerous concussions and kept on playing throughout a lengthy career. My hope is that the Pens are on the forefront of dealing with it early in the cycle - relatively - and that his future is there. That might be naive; if so, so be it.
