McPhee refused to give Lumpy the dreaded vote of confidence. That probably means his job is safe for now.
HNIC spent a few minutes analyzing Ovie's lazy ways and the deterioration of his relationship with Lumpy on the SHS tonight.

Re: Non-Pens NHL Games Thread
Well, when you look at AO's ice time, he managed to be a team worst -3 tonight (no one else was -3 but him) despite only playing 19 min. Laich was the ONLY forward with more TOI (by a few sec) and managed to be a +1 in a 7-1 game.
Lumpy has the stats to justify why AO may have been "punished" in the 1st period. But he did let AO go in the 2nd and 3rd as far as TOI goes.

A 2 minute 5 on 3 for Edmonton and they only needed about 15 seconds. Wish the Pens could do that competently on the PP.
Edmonton's PP is 4 for 6 tonight. Damn, son.

Oilers/Hawks is insane right now. 8-2 Oilers. Emery started, was pulled after 3-0, Crawford came in, gave up 2, Emery started the 2nd, gave up 3 more.

Boudreau is not in good graces with the fans down here. Ever since the whole Ovechkin comment after being sat late in the game, they've had it out for him. Its starting to look a lot like it will be BB vs Ovie, and I think anyone in their right mind will side with Ovie. If BB is gone, which is extremely possible in the next 2 weeks, from what everyone is saying down here, then look for them to hire either a guns-blazing offense guy, or a true defensive-minded coach, ala MT.

AO running the show in DC. Any Pens fan will be thrilled with that. They will get someone to cater to him and they will continue to dominate the regular season and lose in the 1st or 2nd round.
I am pleased with this development

There is no way the Caps hire someone like MT. BB tried to grow a pair this season and stand up to Ovie, and look how that turned out.npv708 wrote:Boudreau is not in good graces with the fans down here. They will hire someone who will cater to Ovie's every whim.

BB vs Ovie? Everyone loves a good coach vs player battle for power. Tremblay vs Roy? Colorado enjoyed that ordeal.
9-2. Hat trick for Hall.

A Caps fan called NHL Home Ice on XM Radio the other day and gave his opinion that Ovechkin should be traded. Granted this is just one idiot Caps fan, but I wonder if there is a movement down there for that to take place.

Re: Non-Pens NHL Games Thread
Not really. Just one idiot. The majority of Cap fans are behind Ovechkin. They're more upset with BB than anything, but some, a small minority who still holds a lot of resentment over how the team was run while Jagr was there, worry that they could be screwed by another Prima Donna, and don't want Ovechkin to dictate everything like Jagr did.Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:A Caps fan called NHL Home Ice on XM Radio the other day and gave his opinion that Ovechkin should be traded. Good article from Puck Daddy on the situation.
Personally, I think the Caps need to:
- Fire Boudreau, bring in someone Bylsma-like. Player's coach, but strict.
- Strip AO of the captaincy. Give it Laich. Brooks Laich is the leader of the Caps in the locker room and on the ice.
- Make a major trade to bring in a legit 2nd line. Eakin-Marjo-Semin is not getting it done.

Ovechkin reminds me a lot of Jagr. The good and the bad (and the ugly).
Except Jagr was blessed with the tutelage of Le Magnifique. Ovechkin has to go at it alone.

Re: Non-Pens NHL Games Thread
I think they try and trade Semin before axing Bodreau. Which essentially means McPhee sending a shot across the large brow of Ovechkin, by getting rid of his friend.
But really, they need a systematic coach. The guy doesn't need to be defensively systematic, just someone who can instill accountability with more than just "aww you f***** up."
