Re: Non-Pens NHL Games Thread
I agree with the intermission guys....doesn't happen often and it pains me to say it. Tampa Bay is not playing hockey. What they are doing is complete crap. They make no effort at all to get the puck or score. I would keep doing what the Flyers are doing and my other thought would be to shoot the puck at the Tampa players if they are just going to stand there. I realize that's a penalty, but they can make it look like a dump in. Maybe that would get them to start attempting to get the puck.
This game will get interesting if the Flyers score first.

They should be booing their coach, for implementing such a life-sucking system.Gaucho wrote:So why are the Lightning fans boing?
Or should I ask: who are they booing?

Re: Non-Pens NHL Games Thread
i dont get why everyone on VS is mad at the Lightning- they decided that is the defensive system they want to play- it may be boring but if you find a way to beat it then it will go away

Flyers are just as much at fault for not trying to attack. I'm sure a rule will be made. Hell it wouldn't surprise me if one is implemented mid-season.

Re: Non-Pens NHL Games Thread
This has been the Lightning's defensive system all year and dating well back to last year. Tampa's not doing anything different here. Philly are the ones who are being complacent by choosing not to move the puck. I'm hoping Tampa gets the first goal and see what Philly does then.

I agree. No defense is unbeatable. Figure out a way to score (either team) and everything changes. If not, just go directly to the shoot out. Side benefit, no concussions at this level of play.pens#1 wrote:i dont get why everyone on VS is mad at the Lightning- they decided that is the defensive system they want to play- it may be boring but if you find a way to beat it then it will go away

What the flyers are doing is exactly what I thought the Penguins should have done in the playoffs last year in any game they got a lead in.

And just like trapping, the left wing lock, what the Pens do, if the 1-3-1 eventually wins a cup we'll see it a lot more.

Re: Non-Pens NHL Games Thread
Tampa would eventually have to come get the puck. They won't stick to that system when they are losing. At least I don't think they are that stupid. The purpose is to get them out of what they want to do. Not to bore everyone and I think you'd find it pretty funny if the penguins were winning and just holding onto the puck in their zone while Tampa stood in the neutral zone.offsides wrote:srsly? He was holding his own for the first 1/4 of the fight and actually landing blows. Then tired out and Coburn's reach took over. What a beating.profpolisci wrote:props to Downie there

This is hard to believe, but apparently tonight's game against the Hawks is Jarome Iginla's first in which at least 5 of his teammates are 25 or younger.

Nik Hagman waived. Now on re-entry waivers. Stajan a healthy scratch last night. Phaneuf has been good for TML this season. Its amazing nobody stepped in to stop Sutter earlier. The dumbest fantasy GM wouldn't make that trade.
