Ya, picked it up at the Jiggle on Raaaaaat 8 in Shaywer.Kraftster wrote:Shiner has.a black lager now? Man, the schwarz is blowing up.
I don't know the ABV, but in keeping with the general schwarzeseses, it seemed lower, which I think helped out the flavor for me.
Doesn't Guinness have a black out now, too?

Yep, malty stout-like flavor with the body of a lager.

Grabbed myself a six pack of Saranac Caramel Porter. I find it really good, but beeradvocate doesn't agree... they all seem to find it too sweet.

Had one of these tonight:
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1315/3606" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And 2 of these:
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/73/15813" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Both are mighty tasty. If I had another one of either I probably wouldn't be upright at the moment

I love the Conway's Irish Ale but a lot of their stuff is hit or miss with me but if I would've had 2 more of those Backout Stouts I would be blacked out.count2infinity wrote:great lakes are quality beers.
The Dopplebock was amazing but they only had 1 left

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I bought a six of Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale yesterday.
I was really looking forward to it for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that it's brewed in Portsmith, NH and I've always enjoyed visiting that town.
It was passable. Definitely a textured medium to heavy composition. It's OK, but I'm not sure I'd buy it again.

Has anyone tried the Guinness Black Lager yet? Almost bought it last week, but got Sweetwater Motor Boat instead, which was pretty good.Eismann wrote: Doesn't Guinness have a black out now, too?

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
It's not bad, a lot a flavor, as you would expect from Guinness. It's a lager so it's not as heavy as a stoutMWB wrote:Has anyone tried the Guinness Black Lager yet? Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Not really similar in my opinion. Although I see it being listed as a Brown Ale on beeradvocate, it seems a lot closer to a red to me. I found it to be very drinkable. Good carbonation, seemed to be a bit more tartness than most reds. Sort of a grapeiness, I think.LeopardLetang wrote:tell me more! how does it compare to newcastle?Kraftster wrote:I was pleasantly surprised with the Newcastle Werewolf Blood Red Ale tonight.

I'm going to buy some very expensive beer this week and will put it in the fridge, when Crosby's first game is announced.
