Re: The Official LGP Pittsburgh Sport Radio Thread
I heard some of the most inciteful sports talk on the fan this morning than I've ever heard. They had Rob Schneider on and he talked about baseball for like 5 minutes.
I listen to Mike and Mike on the way in now because they're talking about the MLB playoffs, not Pitt football.

Exactly...that's more observant, relevant and perceptive than anything they've said on the fan morning show for months.KennyTheKangaroo wrote:schneider was on the x rambling about a-rod being gutless.

This is that station in a nutshell. So pathetic. They might as well say, "We want to hear from you! What did you have for breakfast?" 412-333-9370!IronDukes37 wrote:Seibel and Starkey's attempt yesterday was a predictable, coffee table question, "what are you most looking forward too?"

Re: The Official LGP Pittsburgh Sport Radio Thread
Today Vinnie was going on and on about how this game on Sunday means everything to Matt Hasselbeck and how he still thinks of the SB XL loss daily and he feels the Steelers stole the game from the Seahawks via officiating.
Ron Cook * was all like I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT VINNIE HE'S ON A DIFFERENT TEAM NOW I DON'T THINK HE EVEN CARES ONE BIT ABOUT IT ANYMORE AND I'D BE SURPRISED IF HE WAS TO BE HONEST WITH YOU VINNIE TITLE MAN YOU'RE UP NEXT ON 93.7 THE FAN HOW'S IT GOIN TODAY MAN HOW ARE YA WHAT'S UP
*Ron Cook impression: capitalization

Re: The Official LGP Pittsburgh Sport Radio Thread
So this afternoon the Machine started talking about Talbot and Jagr wearing Flyer uniforms (rather than the Pens own good showing last night), which evolved into what former Pittsburgh players have you hated seeing playing elsewhere, then to "What players would you have liked to see play in Pittsburgh."
Uhhh... I'd like to see pretty much any of the best players in history play for my favorite teams, John. Duh.

So with the Pirates moving to The Fan, is Fillaponi out of a job?

It is a terrible idea for the Pirates.

They seriously held a press conference to announce this. I have no use for listening to the Pirates on the radio. This station was actually better when it first began, which isn't saying much.

I just think it is a bad idea for any sports team to be on a "Sports Radio" channel. Creates too many conflicts of interest.cheesesteakwithegg wrote:Why do you say that?Point Breeze Penguins wrote:It is a terrible idea for the Pirates.

If this means less Pitt Football talk, I support this 110%

Re: The Official LGP Pittsburgh Sport Radio Thread
The only upside could be Filiponi's show is only on air on non-game night. Heck, during the Pitt football and basketball seasons, he is only on 4 nights a week, and during the HS Football season he's on for 3. He's being phased out maybe. I think Burton is too. Burton made his bed when he was kicked off the Morning Show and was cast in a "Steelers Insider" role, which basically means the station didn't want to buy out his contract so they wanted him to quit by taking a diminished role and burying him, something which hasn't prompted him to quit. Jim Colony gets better Steelers interviews and quotes from practice and he's not the Steeler insider.
I'd like to see Mueller have a more high-profile position within the station. He's funny, doesn't make up for shortcomings in knowledge by overuse of sarcasm or condesencion and he knows the area sports scene He brings unique insights being a fan of the Steelers, Browns, Pirates, Indians, PSU, and Pitt.

Mueller had Stoosh on his show last night...most insightful hockey discussion that station has seen in a while, shame he was only on for 20 minutes.

Phew! For a second there I thought we were gonna go an entire Penguins conversation without mentioning the Steelers. Good thing "which steelers would you like to see on ice" calmed my fears

Did anybody hear Ryan Clark call Fillaponi a (mentally challenged person) on the air last night? Madden is making a huge deal of it on twitter. Just curious how it went down.

Never looked at Madden's twitter until now. He's got very ill will towards theFan lol, and I can't say I disagree with him at all.

I thought I heard that last night. I didn't think he called him a ******, but he said about something being "retarded". I can't pull up the audio until I get out of here (place is way too quiet right now) to see which one it was.
