The Battle of Gettysburg **Game Thread**

Post by thehockeyguru »

Anticipating that the Confederates would march on Gettysburg from the west on the morning of July 1, Buford laid out his defenses on three ridges west of the town: Herr Ridge, McPherson Ridge, and Seminary Ridge. These were appropriate terrain for a delaying action by his small cavalry division against superior Confederate infantry forces, meant to buy time awaiting the arrival of Union infantrymen who could occupy the strong defensive positions south of town at Cemetery Hill, Cemetery Ridge, and Culp's Hill. Buford understood that if the Confederates could gain control of these heights, Meade's army would have difficulty dislodging them.

It was somewhat of an uneventful night in Gettysburg as the two sides converged on the town. Instead of engaging one another in battle they concentrated on setting up their fortifications for what could be a battle that lasts several days. One villager though was summoned by General Lee to take up arms against the Union and thus the Confederacy gained strength.

It is now Day 1 and it takes 11 votes to kill.

The kill commands will be “Fire upon NAN” or “Dodge Nan”

Is the logic that we would know this person is a "baddie" because they've been recruited?

I guess that makes sense.

I'm trying to figure out what the breakdown is.

I'm only going by one game of experience here but it would have helped us a lot in the last game if we'd have known how many "baddies" there were.

I'm assuming we're split into three groups? So that would be 7-7-6?

The hardest part of these games is figuring out the set-up's.

fire upon sloppy

I went up and down the list and picked the name that annoyed me the most. :pop:

I'm also kidding, hence the non-yellow color. Please don't count this as a vote.

In one of the games I've played in before, someone had the role of acting crazy and causing confusion. I wonder if Fitz is in that role. I can't remember if that role was good or bad.

Seems the Johnny Rebs are set up as the "red" in this. I would think it's more 3-3-14 or 4-4-12. Doubt thg would repeat our mistake of being 5-5 with even regulars aside that we had in Civil Warz.

On day one bandwagons, I usually try to find people that will either a) tend to not participate until the end or b) people who tend to be in an out of the game, due to scheduling conflicts (work)/ and will eventually be lost at the end of the game.

The last few games Rylan has been in and out. Could change this time, but that is the basis for me vote.

Wow, with out Clues this is tough. Didn't someone say that being quiet is often an indication of being Red? Still PS87 was pretty good at rooting out the reds last time, I'd hate to "off" a guy who might help the cause.

Then again, if he's red, he should be the first to go.
