Seven hundred and fifty years of tyranny from the foreign invaders.
The first Anglo invaders arrived in 1169. The Normans landed in County Wexford and slowly established control over much of the Emerald Isle. Parts of Ireland, however, remained beyond the Pale. Then the Tudor princes brought their Protestantism and their new vigorous enforcement of English rule.
By the beginning of the Twentieth-Century, it was too much to bear. The English killed and crushed the dreams of the Irish people. Torture and devastation were the order of the day.
It is 1916. The whole of Europe is embroiled in the Great War. A new group of Irish patriots have emerged. They use new methods of fighting a war that no one thinks can be won. Methods that will change the world.
"By their destruction the very air is made sweeter. That should be the future's judgment on this particular event. For myself, my conscience is clear. There is no crime in detecting and destroying, in war-time, the spy and the informer. They have destroyed without trial. I have paid them back in their own coin."
