One more thing, because it's been tugging at me, then I'm going to get to more important things like cleaning out the bathroom drain.

Does anyone else see the conflict in these two statements by Jaromir only days apart?
Back then I wanted to play for the New York Rangers, and I promised [Omsk] if I don’t make a deal with the New York Rangers, I’m going to go to Omsk. That’s what I promised them. Three years ago with the free agency, we couldn’t make any deals with Glen Sather. So like I promised, I signed with Avangard Omsk. But right after I signed, there were very good offers from the NHL. But I told myself I’m not going to look back, because I already did what I did. It was kind of tough to leave, because then I saw there was more interest from the NHL, but I had already made the promise. I know for some people it might be just words, but for me, I’m very religious, I know it would bite me a little later. I know that. That’s the way the word works.
And then:
It’s the same like when you tell your future wife before marriage that you’d never leave her, then something happened in a month, and you end up throwing dirt at each other.
That just reeks of the actions of a sociopath/pathalogical liar.

The more I hear from Jagr, the happier I am that he signed elsewhere. We don't need the drama. Crosby Skates is enough.

Glad this saga is over. I'm kind of annoyed in myself for getting so wrapped into it. I think he would have done well here, but I did not like the way he handled himself throughout this whole process...

Now he's a Flyer...Now he's the enemy...

Thank you Tomas.

Judging from that interview, I think Shero's style and Jagr's style of doing things didn't mix at all. Shero wasn't going to be one to really stick his neck out (and I don't blame him, perhaps the Hossa situation also influenced the way he negotiates with some players that don't give a strong indication of wanting to sign), and Jagr wanted to be charmed and wooed as first priority. And if Jagr really honestly hadn't been as sure about playing for the Penguins as was indicated, then he should kick Svoboda to the curb. (But in the end, he did let Svoboda talk and play games...and then became a Flyer.) :face:

Shero's way of doing things is pretty much part of the overall Penguins philosophy and they all run as a cohesive team unit that Jagr would have not fit in with at all. He would have not felt significant enough and it's not the same Penguins and atmosphere that he would have remembered.

He must have loved knowing how badly fans wanted him back.... :? and with all the backlash he blames the franchise, Rangers fans may have said he grew up, but maybe he's got a Penguin complex, for us, nothing's changed. As far as team success it was all just as well it didn't work out. It's unfortunate things turned out the way they did as far as having some closure. But in the end, you can't really go back.
(Except during the Winter Classic Alumni game) :P

I wish old school LGP and/or the Igloo Report were still available for browsing. The old Jagr/Lindros debates would be doubly entertaining.

Flyer fans getting excited about him:
He’ll bring with him his patented one-hand-on-the-stick puck carry. We’ll get to see his hustle in the offensive zone. We’ll hold our breath when he gets the puck on the crease—then, he’ll whip out that nasty deke, shake a goalie out of his pads and turn on the red light with his automatic finish—and we’ll erupt.

He hasn't been able to pull the "one hand on the stick puck carry" for about 10 years. The average NHL'er got a lot stronger between 91 and 2011. Jags sure as heck isn't overpowering anyone at this point in his career.

It's officially Jagovr for me. I'm now excited to see how he plays this season regardless of the team he's on. Obviously I hope the Flyers don't make the playoffs, but if Jagr is to blame for any failure/triumphs I'm intrigued.
