Shero never gives any details, he basically said anything can happen. Jagr thing was 1st time he ever talked about a player that wasn't on the roster, and that is because:
1. His agent is a !@##$! and forced him to do
2. Probably some strategy since Jagr wants to feel loved

definately - Shero always has a backup plan.
He also isn't going to overpay for Jagr, or anyone else - maybe he waits until the season starts, or at the trade deadline, to upgrade the team.
I have no idea who is and isn't on the trade block, but there are plenty of players, especially our slew of 3rd/4th liners that could be offered up if the right deal came along. Then there's draft picks as well or some combination of the 2. All I know is there's plenty that are "tradeable" if we didn't want any UFA on the market this year.

Agree. He has some prices and players that he would bite at, but if those players are getting offers above what the Pens want to pay, then he may stick to "doing nothing". He is not going to sign someone just to sign them.

I heard Jory Rand talking about it last night, he said it was from a Flyers Beat writers article, can't remember which one, something along of delaware dispatch or something?

"I know what my backup plan is if one or both of them doesn't come," he said. "That might be not to do anything at the start of free agency."
I know what he said, I'm stating that means nothing because he basically was just not letting us know anything. He just stated every option possible "Wellll we might sign them, we might get guys to replace them, or we might just stay put."
I just don't see how people think (based on Shero's / Pens recent history) they will hand spots to unproven guys with 5 mill in cap space still there.
hmmm. all those images added today. can't be coincidence. Probably is, but can't be.
Honestly, I think they are just preparing just in case.
Like I said, it's just like when cities plan out the victory parade before the finals are complete. You want all the preparations done before hand so you aren't rushing at the last minute.
I just think this shows that there is interest on both sides (which we already knew), but nothing is a done deal. (yet)
In anticipation of a Jagr signing, the Penguins have constructed web pages with tributes to his career, complete with video montages and Jagr-related items. However, late last night Svoboda told ESPN.com that a Jagr decision might not come for a couple of days.

Maybe Admin can help them with Hello Kitty or Winnie the Pooh.
FLYERS VICTIM OF JAGR BOMB?
Just got off the phone with someone I trust.
I was told Jagr has already told Lemieux that he's going to sign with Pittsburgh and that the Penguins have a huge front page for their Web site ready to go live at Noon tomorrow with a big "welcome home" theme.
Why the delay then?
From what I was told Jagr's agent Petr Svoboda may have been trying to lure another team into offering Jagr a bit more money so he can put a PR spin like "I turned down more money to come back to Pittsburgh."
Is it possible the Flyers are that team?
Maybe. Maybe not. There is no evidence that the Flyers even made an offer, although they have discussed the possibility.
But if it's true, it wouldn't surprise... Jagr needs to make a splash after being gone for three years.
However, Jagr is aloof enough that maybe, just maybe, he's changed his mind.
Get some sleep tonight. Tomorrow is going to be cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

I don't think they'll just hadn spots to unproven players. I also don't think he'll sign players just because they have cap space if they aren't the right players.
So like you said, he might sign someone, he might do nothing.
He may wait until training camp to see if one of those unproven players have improved and can take a spot. A lot of WBS guys played up here last year, so they have a lot of players in their system they have seen.
He may sign someone a month from now. He might sign them today. I don't know.

They are just antipcipating that if he does sign, they will be able just to click a button and have a page dedicated to Jagr ready to go instead of having to construct one and get it up a day or so later.

I just don't see any player on our roster currently or Kennedy as a Top-6 winger. Kennedy fits perfectly on the 3rd line, you're stretching his ability on the 2nd line. With this much space, I would imagine that we make some move, not all players out there are going to demand ridiculous overpayments. There are some players out there who will command do-able salaries who can fill in on the 1st/2nd line (better than Dupuis/Kennedy would). We could do nothing and be fine, I'm not saying we need the help, but if it's there, you definitely can always use more help.
