Ten-Forward was packed; the light from the twin suns of the Deltara system poured into the room.



A few crewmen were standing around, discussing the previous night's unwravelings. Whispers, and murmurs of a Romulan aboard the station were abundant amongst the nervous Starfleet officers. For the night before, on sub-deck 8 below the coolant shaft, and shield generators of Deep Space 4, murder had been committed.



"It's not a bad thing," said one of the crewman. "The Romulans are just as bad as the Klingons."

"But were they working together?" another crewman postulated. Finally, a crewman stood up.

"It's time we put this to a vote. Some of us have served together in Starfleet for years, some of us are new to this station. This man does not look like Officer material."



That man, of course, was doublem. Doublem jumped in to defend himself,

"I have held the rank of Lieutenant Commander for nearly a decade, and you dare question my service?"

Several crewmen moved into an aggressive posture around doublem. Other crewman claimed that they had served with doublem on previous assignments, but their qualms fell on deaf ears. Ten-Forward went from a modest, alert atmosphere to pure chaos in moments.

The majority of crewmen rushed doublem, grabbing him. "You're going to spend the rest of this mission in the brig," somebody angrily raged, but before any more could be said, phaser fire erupted from the crowd, and doublem lay dead. As his personal holographic display was disrupted by the bio-electromagnetic field that once surrounded his body, the facade that was doublem disintigrated to reveal...

Spoiler:

He was indeed a Lieutenant Commander in Starfleet, and

just a regular Crewman aboard the U.S.S Enterprise

doublem's body was sent out to space

Deep Space 4's running lights were switched on, as the nightwatch crew came on board.

Newarenanow was on duty from 2000 to 0500 on the poop deck. NAN sat comfortably, relieving himself, flushed and stood up, adjusting his Starfleet uniform. He stepped out of the men's room to start heading back to his own quarters. Suddenly, phaser fire hit him from behind.
