Why not? A sweep is when you win all the games against someone and we've won 7 of 7 against Philly this far.
It would have been nice to hold the Flyers pointless in the head-to-head games this season, but at least we have 14 points taken from the flyers in those 7 games.

You gotta win the ugly ones too. Thank God they won tonight because they just flat out stunk. But 2 pts is 2 pts and hopefully it woke them up for the big game saturday against the Queafs. Blow Queafs Blow!

On a side note, I sure hope floppa goes out west. As much as I dislike him, he is good.

You know, this game looked very much like a playoff game.
The phlyers looked mad in the third. Very highly motivated.
Alas, we've fended them out. While not playing too well.
Good practice for the young guys who have not yet had a chance
to taste the playoffs.

If this was a playoff game, it looked like 2 PIHL teams duking it out.

Both teams were relativley sloppy.

Definitely not the same level of play that we have become accustomed to over the last 3 weeks. The key is they found a way to get the 2 pts.

Let's not get too picky when we came away with 8 out of 8 points in a building where we've generally been lucky to get any over the years. :)

At this point, taking all 14 points is good enough for me. If we were going to give away a point like we did tonight, it's best that it was against the Flyers instead of a team chasing us -- like Toronto.

Their forwards looked inspired, but their defensman were standing around alot, especially on those two quick goals to open the third...

Seriously. He might be a china doll, but damn is he a force out there.
Hey, it's all been about that foot. He's no china doll =)

These last 3-4 games he claims they've finally figured it out. He's got the right skate and some thingie (don't know the word) inside it to keep the foot in place.

Offical Game Thread - Flyers-Pens

Post by joe »

MAF did not receive a star??????? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Without MAF the pens do not win this game.

His save when the flyers stole the puck on for a shorthanded breakaway goal was huge.

He saved the pens bacon in OT.

In the shootout he did not give gagne an inch.

Another great night for MAF.

The game was closer then i hoped, but the pens have to win games like this. The flyers had more energy in the third and to their credit did not give up when it was 4-2.

The pens had some really bad passes tonight. We all love the pretty goals but the key is timing on those.

The pens balance continues. Sid and malkin no points pens win. All is good! :)

Thanks pens! :D

over and over my wife has wondered "why do teams pull their goalie when losing with a minute or two left....it never really works"....and I always say to her..."it does sometimes, and if you havn't been able to tie it up for 10 minutes even strength then chances are you won't in the last 60 seconds, so you take the chance and gain an extra man!".

Unfortunatly I was able to then very quickly say, "just like that, that is why you do it". too bad it went the wrong way!

However we got the win, in a SO, and Sid scored, which is just great! We've had problems in the SO in the past, but have been coming on as of late, and Sid has had problems in the past, and perhaps he has buried that behind him,...time will tell.

Now it's time to prepare for the Leafs.

Oh the heart tugging drama!!!!
