I don't see why it ever existed. The man took a huge chance by leaving $40 million+ sitting on the table to try and win a championship and he came darn close. And it's not like he went to a team that didn't make the playoffs, he went to the cup champions and they lost in game 7 of the cup final Players get vilified all the time for just following the money, he didn't he took a shot at something bigger. You have to respect that.shafnutz05 wrote:Malkamaniac wrote:I don't see why the Hossa hate still exists. It's been two years. Go Hawks.

I respect him more that he went and decided to play for Detroit's biggest rival.stopper40 wrote:I don't see why it ever existed. Sorry if this already was posted, but an interesting item from the Chicago Tribune (picked up by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review):
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsbu ... 83132.html
In that same article it says Hossa struggled in last year's finals because of a torn rotator cuff. Maybe I was too euphoric to retain that news, but I don't recall reading/hearing about it before.According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Hossa will become the first player in NHL history to play in three consecutive Stanley Cup Finals for three different teams when the Hawks take on the Flyers in Game 1 Saturday night at the United Center

I always liked CHI as my Western Conference Team...really wanted to see Hossa lose in the finals again just for the lulz- but now I will root for him. Maybe he gets injured and can't lift the cup or something though?

I was a little angry at his comments, but I think those were also blown way out of proportion.
And it ended up working for the best for the Pens.

If anything, Hossa was the reason why we got the Cup so fast.

Re: Hossa to DET
I don't really have any anger towards him, but it was a great storyline and highly entertaining when we beat him. This was especially the case after he made his reasons for leaving known. And the story about him getting the goat (?) named Stanley in his hometown was icing on that cake.
He signed a longterm deal with CHI so that is the end of his mercenary days, but if it happened just one more time with CHI losing it would have been funny because it was the first year for the new team he picked. After that though, it would have been 100% over really and just sad for him.
But petty entertainment is no reason to root for the Flyers.

Well said. Rooting for the Flyers is acceptable in very very specific and few instances.JeffDFD wrote: But petty entertainment is no reason to root for the Flyers.
Last year, I'll admit, I harbored some hate towards Hossa, but I also appreciated him leaving. If he had stayed, there's a good chance that the season would have played out differently and we couldn't have brought in HCDB, and without that, probably no Stanley Cup.
But now, the entertainment value is minimal, and I don't have any real hate toward him. He's a good player and in my mind, karma spoke. The score is settled.

Re: Hossa to DET
Honestly, I think it was more fun to hate him than anything. Deep down I completely understood why he left, but it was still entertaining to beat him and the Wings.
I'm 100% back on the Hossa train. It's time for him to win, and I wish him the best. I've always been a fan of Chicago's star players, and I really hope they will win the cup. It'll be good for the NHL and great for Marian.

There's still some entertainment value left in the Hossa thing, but not much.
It was great last year, but I'm over it.

Re: Hossa to DET
So if Chicago wins and since they maybe in cap trouble next season will he request a trade and try to sound noble by saying if Chicago traded him then that would help out the team in the long run? then Winter his agent will say Hossa wants to play with the team with the best chance of winning the Cup and he could land back on Pit or end up with Wash or LA.
