WW XI Post-Game (and Congrats NAN) Thread

Post by redwill »

Werewolf ... er ... Wolf Wars XI!

Thanks to everyone for playing. Up 'til the last day phase, it was pretty intense. The players really seemed into the game and it showed.

VILLAGE WINS!

The starting roles:

Alpha Wolf: shafnutz05
Wolf: MWB
Seer: Kicksave
Angel: newarenanow
Vigilante: relantel

Night 1:
shafnutz05 recruits Malkamaniac
Kicksave investigates relantel
newarenanow protects newarenanow
relantel has no bullet

Day 1:
Village lynches Juice

Night 2:
shafnutz05 kills Kicksave
Kicksave investigates slappybrown
newarenanow protects newarenanow
relantel kills slappybrown

Day 2:
Village lynches count2infinity

Night 3:
shafnutz05 kills canaan
newarenanow protects no one (missed deadline)
relantel has no bullet

Day 3:
Village lynches dagny

Night 4:
shafnutz05 kills relantel
newarenanow protects newarenanow
relantel saves bullet
* This results in death of relantel and shafnutz05 (see note below). MWB is new Alpha

Day 4:
Village lynches thehockeyguru

Night 5:
MWB kills Zarovich
newarenanow protects newarenanow

Day 5:
Village lynches sdm5055

Night 6:
MWB kills cup keeper
newarenanow protects newarenanow

Day 6:
Village lynches MWB. Malkamaniac is new Alpha

Night 7:
Malkamaniac kills MikeEnIke
newarenanow protects newarenanow

Day 7:
Malkamaniac goes to the gallows.

By position:

Alpha:
recruits Malkamaniac
kills Kicksave
kills canaan
kills relantel
kills Zarovich
kills cup keeper
kills MikeEnIke

Seer:
investigates relantel
investigates slappybrown

Angel:
protects newarenanow
protects newarenanow
protects no one
protects newarenanow
protects newarenanow
protects newarenanow
protects newarenanow

Vigilante:
kills slappybrown
kills shafnutz05 (he actually saves his bullet, thus killing the Alpha)

NOTES:

- As I mentioned in the sign-up thread, I hesitated about putting in the vigilante role. I wasn't sure the numbers supported it. However, when 3 or 4 more players signed up, I decided to put it in. It's usually more harm to the village than good anyway. This time it played a significant role in favor of the village.

- The vig had to have an unused/saved bullet to take out the Alpha. relantel saved his bullet on Night 4, so it was bye-bye shafnutz. If relantel had had no bullet or if he had used his Night 4 bullet on someone else, then the shafnutz would have been OK. relantel died because there were remaining wolves. If there had only been the Alpha remaining, the vig would not have died.

- Before anyone asks: Yes, nan went completely absent. He set a standing order to protect himself.

Thanks again to everybody!

We were close then. If shaf could have lasted another night we would have been in good shape.

I dont like that the Angel can protect themself each night. That gives the village such an advantage.

thats kind of ghey....so the game was really a wolf win (deadline would have been reached and w/a tie, no lynch & malk kills me that night.

Yeah, I agree. But every other night is too little. Since I didn't want to get too creative for this simple game, I just went with the old rules. I'll do it differently next time.

It would have been a tie if it went to the time deadline. It would have been Malka vs. the angel.

Many thanks to Malka for ending the misery.

I agree that the best case is somewhere in between for the angel... like protect self two out of every three nights. That's tougher to mod though.

The game ended up being very competitive with the setup the way it was. But when it comes down to the end, the village has 1 person that they know is good so it makes things really difficult for the Red's.

During the second to last vote we were hoping nan would hop on and vote for either mike or troy since the vote was split one each. Then the other of us would have switched to end it. We figured that was our only chance of winning.

Thats exactly right. The same thing happened with c2i and I . All we could hope was that the Angel would make an incorrect read and lynch one of his own.

What do you mean? Just by being the Angel you are guaranteed never to die. It is by far the most powerful role in the game.

When the seer is exposed the role of the angel becomes a lot more dynamic. When the seer is dead, the angel role is pretty basic.

This game, though simple, seemed to be more enjoyable, as it seemed that participation was up on the whole of it. But given the starting number, it was like we were starting on day 5 or 6 in a larger game, with porportionate numbers, but without any of the knowledge.

The angel can be lynched by the village. This has happened more often than one would think.

I found it surprising that NO ONE ever seriously questioned nan's claim.

no one refuted nan's claim. one of the baddies would have to give themself up to get nan....not completely surprising.

Just a side note: my random.org result had relantel as the angel and nan as the vig.

However, I accidentally sent the angel PM to nan instead of relantel. So relantel got switched to the vig.

No idea. twc and wallflower are next on Pavel's list. They have said they're not gonna start 'til after the playoffs.

So it depends on whether or not someone else wants to start up a new game in the meantime. I'll play anytime, of course.
