Official GDT: Pens @ Stars 3/22/24

Post by DelPen »

Might be the best lineup until some centers who’s names start with P get a call up.

He seems more like a Kunitz than a Hornqvist if I had to pick a former Pen we were missing and never really replaced.

Thanks for that graphic. During one of the last couple games, I think Bartkowski was in the studio and was talking about how goals at the NHL level come from sustained pressure that gets the opposing d-men and goalie scrambling. Most teams are good enough that they'll be set up well to defend the initial rush, and even if it generates a shot, it won't usually trouble the goalie. So, if teams have a lot of one-and-done type of offensive shifts, they might generate plenty of shots or shot attempts, but they won't actually have been that dangerous.

Malkin covering for EK when he pinched was not something we were seeing for a while.

Yeah, he's not going to replace Guentzel's production, but I could see him getting back to his Toronto level of 20+ goals and 50-60 points per season, with plenty of those being the "garbage" goals this team has been lacking. If he can do that, that's not a bad return for a pending UFA.

Good comparison.Similar to the style Kunitz played with.

I think we got some decent prospects that are at least better than everyone in WBS expect maybe Poulin but I still need to question a GM who thinks the playoffs are reachable trading the 2nd best player on your team. It’s the blatant disregard for honesty that annoys me here.

That sucks for Jarry, rebounds off the base of the net right back to Pavelski who flutters a shot to bounce off of Pettersson.

I want them to lose, yet I can't root against them. What a conundrum.

Stivany already looks better than Graves. But so has Shea in all his appearances.

The unlucky bounces help. more of those wouldn’t be bad.
