Other NHL Games 2016-17

Post by Durbano »

Auston Matthews with four goals through the first two periods.

First NHL player to score four in his first game.

300 goal season. That would be a good rookie year.

Toronto will be a top team in a couple of season. Even they can't screw up so many good prospects now :)

impressive debut from Matthews. too bad for him the rest of the Leafs didn't show up. 4 goals from one player and you still can't beat the Sens? pathetic.

Jonathan Quick reportedly out 3 to 4 months.

Zatkoff to the rescue ... or not.

Seems like a good thing to have more than 1 top notch goalie for as long as you can afford. 8-)

Good luck to Zatkoff!

Never thought I'd be eager to periodically check the box score of a Toronto-Boston game in October.

Mario Marchand and Auston Gretzky both slacking.

Just finished watching Disco Dan's team choke in the 3rd against the Flyboys. Leading 3-0 in the 3rd, the Sabres give up 3 pp goals and lose in the shootout. I can't stand the Flyers.

Speaking of getting to their game ... has anyone else noticed that phrase has been used regularly of late by the Pens players and coaches? I don't think I heard it more than once all last season and now for some reason it's back.

BTW I also happened to tune in the other night just in time to watch Buffalo implode. Yuck.

Only 7 teams with more wins than losses. NHL getting their wish. Stifle the leagues talent, keep the scoring down and keep everyone bunched up for as much of the season as possible. Keep the current fans buying tickets as far into the season as possible. No fan base will stop buying tix in January and February if their team still has a shot at the playoffs.

On Michel Therrien's birthday too - It was nice that they arranged a 10 cannon salute for him tonight in Columbus.

Just read that Steve Stamkos will be out -
A day after Steven Stamkos left a game against the Detroit Red Wings with a lower-body injury, word comes out that the Lightning captain suffered a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee.

With the Lightning in the middle of a five-game road trip, Stamkos flew back to Tampa on Wednesday for an MRI, where the results showed the tear. There’s no timetable for a return and he’s currently labeled as out “indefinitely.”

Tough stretch of luck for him.

I haven't heard "getting to their game", but Sullivan's "Just play" and "play your game" are just as stereotyped. We just haven't become frustrated with him yet to be annoyed by the phrase. :D

Definition of stupidity: Going all-in on analytics, "promoting" your former GM to hockey ops, firing a well respected coach with a decent record, annointing yourself the new interim coach.....and, wait for it, your analytics deciding that your starting goalie, who is 0-7 lifetime in Minnesota, and has been pulled in 4 of those games in Minnnesota, should start tonight....in Minnesota.

Result....goalie gives up 5 goals on 17 shots, and gets pulled for the 5th time in 8 games in Minnesota.

The Florida Panthers, ladies and gentlemen. :face: :face:

2-3-3 in last 8 games with Tom Rowe behind the bench.
5-3 in their last 8 games with Gerard Gallant.

Ideally they miss the playoffs and the Panthers trade us Jagr at the deadline. A guy can dream...

Steven Stamkos was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was then taken to a better hospital where his status was upgraded to out indefinitely.

Bishop left the game AGAIN last night, injuring his leg against the Red Wings. This guy must share a doctor with Beau Bennett.

What's old is new again: Pierre with a Mike Richards leadership reference just now on the Flyers-Caps game.

Sad to see the Flyers win this one in OT. I still dislike the Caps, but the team from Philly? Lower than whale doopie.
