The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Saturday evening that Nebraska-Omaha junior forward Josh Archibald has signed with the organization, ending his collegiate career. Archibald was a sixth round draft choice by the Penguins in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Archibald will finish out the season on an ATO with Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton before starting his contract with the Penguins next season.

Archibald was outstanding for Nebraska-Omaha this season. He scored 29 goals 14 assists for 43 points. He was recently named one of ten finalists for this year's Hobey Baker Award, and were it not for Johnny Gaudreau, Archibald may have had a shot at winning it.

We at SBN College Hockey rated Archibald as the ninth best prospect in our list of the Top 100 NHL Prospects in college hockey:

After showing flashes of brilliance at the end of last season, Archibald has emerged this season as one of college hockey’s most dangerous offensive threats. He’s got elite-level speed and good finishing touch. He’s not afraid to play with a little edge to his game either.
