Officiating was even more personal back in the 80's and 90's. Newell, Hogarth, Koharski, Devorski, Morel, Fraser, etc.

You knew them all by name. They really inserted themselves into the game.

Malkin constantly shoots high and inccurately.He gets the odd post but when was the last time one of his Point Shots hit the back of the net?
Karlsson does much more to create opportunities with his puck handling and passing.
