This year's bottle was just ok, but I had a chance to get it on draft and it was really good.

Nothing spectacular, but it's a very drinkable beer.

Had one from a six my FIL brought over. Gave me a wicked headache after 2 sips, which was odd and disappointing.

A fine gentleman from CA sent me the following brews as thanks for sending him a Pens schedule and yearbook:

Aftershock Jess y James Imperial American Stout
Belchin Beaver Horchata Imperial Stout
Hanger 24 Chocolate Stout
Coronado Brewing Co. Blue Bridge Coffee Stout
Coronado Brewing Co. Orange Ave Wit
Stone Smoked Porter Chocolate and Orange

It shall be a very Merry Christmas indeed.

Mini-Haul:

Victory Winter Cheers
Delirium Noel
Corsedonk Christmas Ale
New Holland Cabin Fever
Southern Tier 2XMAS

One of my friends got me a Founders Devil Dancer while shopping for his entries for the 12 beers of Xmas. I returned the favor by grabbing an extra Winter Cheers.

I am devastated to report that I have cold. The Christmas-New Years break is a huge beer trying time for me. I need all positive recovery vibes I can get between now and mid-week, please.

Snort salt before testing. A singer friend used to do this before shows when she had a head cold.

Southern Teir 2XMAS has just enough spice for a winter warmer, backed by heavy malt and a fair ABV.

Tasty stuff.

I don't normally care for tripels, but this St. Bernadus tripel is good.

Have yet to get their Christmas Ale. I haven't really been looking for it, but has anyone seen it around?

Need to figure out a way to convince the wife to go to the bar tonight. They have Delerium Noel and Delerium Tremmens both on tap.

Cozy up nice and polite like and say, "They have Delerium Noel and Delerium Tremmens both on tap tonight. We really should go, don't cha think? Just you and me, out for the night, enjoying a little Holiday cheer."

Tried a raison d'extra. Knocked me on my ass at 18.5 %. Extraordinarily tasty. If you can find a couple, go for it. But let them sit for a year or so. This beer was a little too hot. But smelled amazing and had a lot of complexity under that heat. Glad I stocked up.

Had a few on draft last night...

Founders breakfast stout, one of my favorites, always fantastic.

East end big hop ipa, incredibly average, almost wonder if this was a bad keg, everything about it was subdued
I
Elysian bifrost winter ale, really enjoyed this

Had the Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout the other day. I'm a Brooklyn fan, but wasn't expecting too much from this one. Color me pleasantly surprised. One of the better stouts I've had (and I'm a huge stout fan). Of course, one of these plus a St. Bernardus Abt12 had me feeling pretty good.

Drinking a 2XMAS. It's decent, but like most beers of this style, one a year is enough.

Had my first delerium noel last night while watching die hard, so pretty much a perfect night. Can't believe I've missed out over the years on this, it's incredible. How does it compare to the St bernardus Christmas?

St. Bernardus Christmas is a much darker, richer beer. I love Delerium Noel, as well, but they are two very different beers.

Win at Jig said they did get a St.B. Christmas Ale shipment in, but it went in a day. Curses.

Picked up a Delirium Noel, and yet another (this makes 3) St.B. 4-pack w/ glass. I reward myself for doing the shopping.

Received a Lost Abbey Deliverance Ale in the office christmas gift exchange.

American Strong Ale. 12.5%

A blend of bourbon barrel-aged Serpent’s Stout and brandy barrel-aged Angels Share, Deliverance is the epic battle being waged between heaven and hell for the souls of mortal men… and your enjoyment in a glass.

Sounds intense.

a lost abbey beer is a great gift because it's going to be great, but there's no way it's worth the price it costs to get one.
