Our local store just got a bunch of these in stock. Looking forward to the triple tomorrow before the movie.eddysnake wrote:Really enjoyed southern tiers take on Belgians, here is their new one, tripel Cafe. Brewed with green coffee beans

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Saw the Mad Elf at Market District in Bethel, had it in stock the past two weekends. They keep it behind the counter.
I demolished one on Thanksgiving and I regret it because I probably won't find it again.
I would like to try the Bourbon Country stuff but they're probably sold out.

Mad Elf is in pretty much every store here. I usually hold off on getting any until closer to Christmas. Bought a sixer of Troegs Blizzard of Hops today. I'm really excited to try it.

Giant Eagle was stocking them yesterday, I got three 4-packs. One is gone already, but I split 2 of them with friends who had never tried itjimjom wrote:Saw the Mad Elf at Market District in Bethel, had it in stock the past two weekends. They keep it behind the counter.

Yards was a blast. Their rev ales are all drinkable. The porter was my fave. I bought the grand cru for home. Can't wait to dig into it later.

I had a Peppermint Porter tonight that was very easy drinking.
Milkman Brewing is a new brewer that opened about a block from the public market. All of their stuff seemed good, especially the breakfast stout and the previously mentioned peppermint porter.

Wife had a banana bread beer tonight. Straight delicious. Smelled exactly like banana bread, tasted like a nice brown nut ale, nice after taste of banana.

Yea. The boomerang IPA was good, but slightly over-bitter for me. Porter is good as well, but I thought the coffee stout was the best in the pack.shafnutz05 wrote:Did you get the variety pack? Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Me and my macro-brew input flying in again...
Bought the Shock Top winter variety pack. The pretzel wheat beer is really really good (relative to what you are buying). The honey bourbon wheat is interesting... not sure if I like it or not. Then you get the Shockolat Wheat and Belgian White, which they recommend you creating your own black and tan with. Tried. It's good but the damn things don't settle one on top of the other. You're just mixing the beers together, which still tastes good, but defeats the purpose.
Moral of the story: it's worth buying for the pretzel twist wheat if you like wheat beers and you aren't in the mood for a micro-brew. I would also appreciate if someone can tell me whether or not I like the honey bourbon wheat.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Tried a Victory Oak Horizontal tonight. It was damn tasty. I didn't know if I'd like the flavor imparted by the oak barrels, but there was a nice vanilla in there. I definitely noticed the 10.5% in taste and effect.

Had Bell's Cherry Stout. Started out enjoying it, but slowly began to become "annoyed" with the cherry flavor.
Full Pint Festivus was also had, and was pretty damn good.

I've always liked (never minded?) Dundee samplers. Found out today that they're the same brewer as Genessee. I don't care who brews them, but I'll take a $20 sampler. Their porter isn't bad, nor is their kolsch.

Enjoyed a belching Beaver peanut butter milk stout, these guys make a great milk stout, really like them. Also had a black Isle oatmeal stout, it was OK, nothing special

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Did a Beer Advent Calendar exchange with some friends. Goal was to have 24 different beers for 24 days until Christmas Eve, but 2 people were no shows, and 2 others brought the same beer, so we all ended up with ~ 21 unique beers (I think my math is right).
I provided Bell's Kalamazoo Stout. Think I've had it before, but it was a while back so I don't remember how good it was.
Really looking forward to some of the beers, namely Victory Storm King and Weyerbacher Merry Monks.

Frugal Macdoogals, which is right off 77 and has a nice growler fill station. Southern Spirits on 521 has a good selection.DelPen wrote:MWB, best places around Charlotte to get good beer?
If you're talking about pubs, I don't know as much. there's a section of charlotte called NoDa, which had good stuff on tap (VGBG, Growlers Pourhouse). One of the recent breweries that opened is called NoDa and there beer is great. Also a brewery called Birdsong, but haven't tried that yet.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Opened an alesmith speedway stout for me bday yesterday, might be the finest imperial stout I've ever had. I really wish we would see distribution of this here.
