There was really only two times where they were even considered MVP candidates in the same year...one was the recognition of the Lemieux comeback in 2001, where he played half a season and it was really just a lot of "wow, I can't believe this is happening" votes...I mean, clearly, as we saw both Crosby (2013) and Jagr (2000) lose out on slam dunk Hart trophies for missing one-quarter of the season allowing a clearly inferior Ovechkin and a defenseman (a rarity in its own right) to win instead. Lemieux's strong finish in the half-season in 2001 was really just - well, A) incredible - and B) A glorious token towards Lemieux's eternal greatness. Traditionally, players that play 40 games do not get Hart recognition.

So, that just leaves 1996...(Lemieux 1st, Jagr 4th) and they didn't spend a ton of time together at even strength I don't believe...and even then, it was a runaway. Lemieux had 34 first place votes, 10 second place...Jagr had 5 and 3, respectively...

So, I'm not sure there's a strong case for Lemieux and Jagr being buddy-buddy in the MVP voting...

Consequently, we see the opposite occur...

I was a cool idea when it started. It would still be cool if it was 1 game a year, hosted in a city that you would not need to worry about weather. Haveing 2 a year (including the Canadian only game) tarnished it a bit. Now that there is a half dozen... it's just blah...

Watching this on NBC Sports so my kid can watch her show. The overhead cam you can switch to is pointed at some odd angle where it's not even showing the full ice. Weird choice of angles.
