Sounds about right. He's got insane skill. Production topped off the last few years. Probably will have a St. Louis-like resurgence, I'd imagine.

Wish Granted... Source on the Streit deal says that his contract will not be validated by the NHL until they dump Bryz and Briere.Lt. Dish wrote:I guess it's just me hoping the Flyers do something stupid.brwi wrote:I'm in the crowd that thinks it's extremely likely they buy him out. Bryz is not an elite goaltender and is also a headcase by even goaltender standards. Flyers would probably rather throw a cheap contract at Timmay Thomas and go ahead and ditch The Bryz, who has a bad contract on a team that is going to need some serious cap relief.Lt. Dish wrote: I really don't see Bryz being bought out this year.

Datsyuk getting 3 years for 23 mil... lol.. at age 34?!?!?!

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Don't know about that. Gonchar and Streit both count as middle class nowadays. I wonder more about guys like Cooke, Kennedy... I think a guy like Eaton was a casuality of this system. And then worked his way back under a familiar employer. But will he be re-signed? More like lower-middle class...shmenguin wrote:the annihilation of the middle class in the NHL.JoseCuervo wrote:Cap going down... player's cap hits going up

Eaton is more like a welfare queen, than a member of the middle class (in the above analogies).

Re: Around the League: Transactions
I don't think that's a bad deal for Detroit, but it certainly is not a discount. I mean, he is still extremely productive, but his age has to be a concern at the back-end of that deal. This contract will take him from age 35-37 (his 35th b-day is in July). At 37, I can't see him still being a point per game guy. That being said, he is an amazing talent, and plays a responsible brand of hockey. You don't let someone like that walk away because he wants an extra million over what you would like to pay.marek wrote:Datsyuk getting 3 years for 23 mil... lol.. at age 34?!?!?!

With Voynov signing per @reallisa, #LAKings have 15 players signed for $56.7M -- leaving $959K per open roster spot.

If we do trade Letang, I see shero going hard after Scuds. Just a gut feeling.
PR related but I could dig a top 4 of orpik martin despres scuds (doesn't make us better but it does make us better...if that makes sense)

How does the puck move forward with that top four? Does 87 just come back and take it from them or...?

The short answer is that Shero - depending on Letang's demands - might be hosed.mikey287 wrote:How does the puck move forward with that top four? Does 87 just come back and take it from them or...?
I just had a nightmare and Matt Niskanen was playing 27 minutes a night.

what? Thats fair value for his talent and what he brings to that team. I don't get the reaction.marek wrote:Datsyuk getting 3 years for 23 mil... lol.. at age 34?!?!?!

Not that all these moves matter, Boston got the same team next season minus possibly Horton. Boston should be the favorites again

I didn't say I had it all figured out!
Although Pens did have a top 4 of Orpik Gonchar Scuds and Gill when they did win the cup.
Not exactly a puck moving bunch either and I'd like to think Despres has a gonchar like upside to his transition game given time over a full season.

Yeah, it's no super discount, but it's Pavel Datsyuk, he's pretty good.canaan wrote:what? Thats fair value for his talent and what he brings to that team. I don't get the reaction.marek wrote:Datsyuk getting 3 years for 23 mil... lol.. at age 34?!?!?!

Gonchar was an elite puck mover and can carry a lot of bacon. Despres is not and won't be. With respect to you and Despres. He just doesn't have Gonchar upside. That's a Hall of Very Good caliber player.

CSN here in Philly is reporting a rumor that the Flyers are talking to Anaheim about a trade for Bobby Ryan. The Flyers would send Bradon Coburn and the 11th overall pick back.
Again, just a rumor.

That trade has Philly gaining 600k in salary. How is this even possible?Kovy27 wrote:How are they affording this?pens2005 wrote:CSN here in Philly is reporting a rumor that the Flyers are talking to Anaheim about a trade for Bobby Ryan.
