You don't know this. It's business and this is how business negotiations roll.Bioshock wrote:Well, he will never return to Pittsburgh in any capacity now. I know for a fact that he will never have his jersey retired in this town.

Well he did make a ton of statements about how badly he wanted to play here, talked to 66 about it, but when it came down to it he was chasing the $$jimreb wrote:You really don't think 5 years from now this will all be forgotten? They only good thing about this to me is that Shero isn't getting played again playing the waiting game like he did with Ritch Winters and Hossa during the 2008 Free Agency period

This is the same as not tendering Kennedy and having arbitration hanging over you, Shero needs to know exactly what $ he has to spend.

RS made a huge mistake. Enjoy overpaying for some scrub or going into the season with Dupuis as your best RW.

One tidbit that seems to have gone unnoticed for the past five minutes: the Pens press release just now confirmed the $2 million per year level of the offer to Jagr. So, the reports they had lowballed him at $1.3 million were wrong.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
I wanted him to come back. If he doesn't he doesn't deserve to have his jersey raised next to Mario's and I doubt it ever will be as long as Mario owns the team. Svoboda and Jagr disrespected Lemieux big time.

Can't say I'm surprised.
Shero is doing what's best for the Pens as a team.

While that is not the sole intention here....
It could certainly still happen. I do not believe that the door is officially closed...but that Shero wants things done on his terms, not someone elses.

At least we have closure and don't have to let this bleed out for the next few days. Good riddance Jags, wish you the best, but we certainly don't need you.

Away from apologist delusions, how can you blame Svoboda? Jagr pays him. At any time over the past six weeks, Jagr could have said "STFU Svoboda or you're fired." Clearly, he didn't.pittsports87 wrote:Very easily.Desiato wrote:Jagr is almost 40 years old! How can you blame his agent? Give me a break.pittsports87 wrote:Jagr withdrawn. I may now be depressed, **** that eurotrash and greedy agent.
None of this fiasco is out of character for Jagr. He's a temperamental drama queen.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
This makes me thrilled that Shero is our GM. I would still want Jagr on this team, but after his comments about his heart in pittsburgh and all the stuff with Mario, it just shows how he is still very similar to the person he was when we traded him. I will boo Jagr everytime possible next year.

If Jagr intended to accept the Penguins offer he could still call them and say that now. But thats not going to happen!

Yeah your full of crap. The only statements he made where that Pittsburgh or Detroit were both good options. I think Detroit is a better option for him anyway, but I wanted him as a Pen because there is nothing but garbage at FA this year.Myriad wrote:Well he did make a ton of statements about how badly he wanted to play here, talked to 66 about it, but when it came down to it he was chasing the $$jimreb wrote:You really don't think 5 years from now this will all be forgotten?
