I didn't realize I was getting the Pitt game today; yeah it's pretty good and not at all overly sweet.

Not really a big fan of it. It's ok, but not a ton of flavor. Something that is definitely better on a cold day.columbia wrote:@MWB

I didn't love it, it didn't hate it. Thought it was very underwhelming.columbia wrote:@MWB

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
The first one was better than the third, which is often true of middling beers.stopper40 wrote:I didn't love it, it didn't hate it. Thought it was very underwhelming.columbia wrote:@MWB

I've never bought this, due to the price.Kraftster wrote:Golden Monkey got me in a bit of trouble Saturday.
How does it compare to the Goose Island Belgian offerings?

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Ha, funny, price is a reason I would buy it. It's fine. I think it hits as a pretty good representation of the Americanized tripel style. I'm not sure I'd put the GI Belgian offerings in that group, which means they're better.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I'm not sure why I could never get into the Golden Monkey. It's not bad and it's usually sold at a decent price. I haven't had it in awhile, but the only thing I can remember is:
a) you can taste every bit of that 9%, especially as it warms up.
b) that Monkey will usually put a hurting on you about 12 hours later.
Maybe I just answered my own question.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
is the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Pumpkin Ale heavy on pumpkin or bourbon? Wanted to try it last week but wasn't sure if I'd like it.
Most bourbon ales taste like somebody dropped a shot in it. I'm fine with a hint of the barrel, not the whole damn shot.

I believe it's been talked about before here, but what are some gueuze style beers that are generally available?

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Most readily available is that Lindeman's Cuvee Rene. I think that's usually available at the better Giant Eagles. It is very solid too. The best one that is occasionally available but really expensive is the Gueuze Tilquin. I got one of those in a mixed sixer at Sharp Edge one time and it was $17. Rough. You'll see that St. Louis Gueuze Fond Tradition at Giant Eagle too. I actually prefer the Lindeman's, though.
Other than those three, I think the rest are rare founds 'round these parts. The Bruery Rueuze is really good, and I'd say the Drie Fonteinen is probably the best I've had.

Stone's anniversary ale isn't my favorite this year... I just had it on tap and the body isn't there. The mouthfeel just is off. The taste is way too bitter as well.

Every time I see Stone's Enjoy By on tap I get so excited. Such an incredibly good DIPA.

Why are saisons a thing
Kraftster you have great taste in beer but the saison thing is baffling. It's like drinking light beer with flavors.
Today's was milkman brewing wedding saison. Don't get it. Was fine but this style I can't get into.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I'm a saison lover... mostly in the summer though. I wouldn't drink one right now unless it was on clearance or I was handed one. I like to drink seasonally.

I have to second slappy. I've tried several good saisons, just can't get into them. The carbonation is off putting
