Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Finally had a chance to try Victory Helios (saison) tonight (Shaler Giant Eagle). What a nice beer for it being $4.99 for a bomber. I know we have some Rayon Vert fans in this thread. This is like a Rayon Vert (a slightly more subtle bretty taste) meets a lemony saison, like say 21st Amedment Sneak Attack or Brooklyn Sorachi Ace. Highly drinkable. $60 for 12 22 ozers is pretty economical too.
I was in the Pine Giant Eagle this weekend. I have to say, I really feel for those of you that have to go to any GE other than Shaler. The beer section is so superior. I haven't been out to the Robinson Market District in a while, but I have to believe it tops that too.

Had a Green Flash Brewing Company Green Bullet 3X IPA last night. Was not disappointed at all, very well balanced for a big IPA! The more and more I drink these west coast IPAs the bigger fan I am becoming.

Enjoying a Sam Smith Organic Chocolate Stout and a scotch...a lot more than I'm enjoying the Pens game grumblegrumble.

I've been fortunate that all the dogfish world wide stout I've drank has been at least 2 years old. This latest case is only a few months old and whoa that 18% abv is boozy. Not great. It's the first beer I've had that I'm prett certain needs aging.
Luckily I have another case in the basement from 2010 to tide me over while I give it another year

I've had so many good-quality beers in the last year or so that I forgot how bad Natty Light tasted...

I need to find out where you live because you appear to have a helluva a beer cellar going. I've always wanted to plan a heist, so this seems like a perfect opportunity.shmenguin wrote:I've been fortunate that all the dogfish world wide stout I've drank has been at least 2 years old. Ended up having a HUGE tax bill this year and am low on disposable funds so I bought a 30 pack of Genesee cream ale as the best of the cheapest. Not good but not terrible either.MRandall25 wrote:I've had so many good-quality beers in the last year or so that I forgot how bad Natty Light tasted...

Is it creamy? I haven't had any of that since I was a teenager.

Not really, but it does seem to have less of that rank bite of cheap beer.

I was hoping that it secretly tasted like Boddingtons or something.

That stuff was like $13 for a 30pk near my old house. Genesee, Genesee ice, and Genesee cream ale were staple kegs for parties in college.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Stopped into Hal's hoping to fimd some Fire and Blood ale. Struck out, but picked up a six pack:
Victory Helios
Victory Swing Session
Harpoon The Long Thaw
Southern Tier 2Xone
Draai Laag Gouden Brugge
Yards Saison
Also acquired a growler of Simon Girty for the game tonight.. So I'm calling it a victory.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
The Long Thaw is a White IPA. Can't say that I've tried one before, but if this is indicative of the style, I like it.
There is a nice hop smell, but it is not overly hoppy in taste. Rather, there is a nice citrus hit that is really present and blends nicely with the hops.
Not a beer if you're looking for a hop punch, but I could see myself housing these on a warm day.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
going to open the Pliny tonight (bottled 4/9), trying not to let my excitement overhype this for me, but it seems like a great night to try one. Got a bomber of ST new Goat boy (weizenbock), family all enjoyed it. Tried a Tap It IPA and Perpetual IPA over the weekend. Both were good, enjoyed the tap it a bit more.

When kenny the kangaroo was a young un, the next door neighbor had a dog named Genny in honor of his favorite beer.Froggy wrote:That stuff was like $13 for a 30pk near my old house. Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Didn't drink it fast enough. had to dump the last quarter of it down the sink.
I got that from the bottle shop and a tuna salad sandwich from the deli next door (smallman street deli on murray). The Bud Light Bomber was the only thing worth having spent money on.

Here's the thing about the Natty: when you're doing Beer Olympics, you want the lowest ABV along with the beer that won't feel like it's just sitting in your stomach.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Just saw an email from Penn Brewery mentioning some new beers that will be on tap shortly...
Dunkelweiss
Berliner Weisse
Ginger Beer
Brick Biergarten IPA
I'm mostly interested in the Dunkelweiss. They supposedly had this at one of the festivals they were at last year, but I didn't make it to that one.
