I hope this doesn't end up like Lost, which I eventually stopped watching. After hearing about the conclusion of the show, I did not regret it at all.

I promise if you stick with it you will not be disappointed. I would suggest reading the books though. It just seems like there really is too much going on for 1 hour at a time, once a week.

Last night my wife said, "I really want to like this show but I'm getting to the point where I don't know what's going on."

Anyone else who hasn't read the books also confused by this show?

Too many story lines. And too generic for my taste to really want to read the books.

I do wish that there was more time to stick wit specific story lines a bit longer in each episode... it sucks that you will barely (or not even) see some of the characters in the episodes... and with the way that the story gets bigger and bigger... I can definitely see where non-readers would have trouble following some of them.

I'm not having trouble following the storylines(i think), but its hard to care about some of them when you don't hear from them for 2 weeks.

Yeah, I would be lost without the books at this point. I'm not a big fantasy reader, and I thought they were really well written and a quick read. I read all five in three months last summer.

Spoiler:
All I can think of is that they wanted to add more drama to that part of the storyline and/or felt that she needed more of a reason to go to the House of the Undying. Whatever it was... don't get it.

When you have so much else going on, why invent drama where it didn't exist? I mean maybe actually show the taking of Winterfell or one of Robb's battles... things that actually happened that would be interesting.

battle scenes are expensive.

I thought it was a fantastic episode until then end. Wtf? I'll reserve my judgment and see where they are going with it.

Theon's botched beheading attempt was even more awesome than I expected.

What was different about the show from the book? Never read them, so I'm curious.

I find Daenerys to be extremeley annoying. Maybe it's because Emilia clarke is a terrible actress.

She is not transferring to film as well as others are. Tyrion, on the other hand, might be better on film than in the book.

Tyrion is awesome. One of my favorite characters, both in the books and on screen.

Show spoiler
Spoiler:
Yeah, I don't know what is going on with the dragons being kidnapped. My guess is they needed to speed things up a bit. And as someone else said, the battle scenes are expensive to shoot. Martin himself wonders how they are going to get all of the battles in the series, and struggled to write a major scene for later on this season.

Spoiler:
I think they added the final scene to give Dany a bit more to do. In CoK Dany doesn't have a lot of chapters, and what she has is a lot of begging for ships from the different guilds which is kind of boring & redundant (up until the HoTU). Same thing w a few other characters, Robb isn't even in CoK, you just hear about him, and Jamie Lannister is a prisoner the entire book. I think they are manufacturing scenes to keep these actors involved in S2.

Awe, whittle Jamie was dyslexic. I don't remember that from the books. Then again I am soo confused because I don't remember half this stuff and I read the books just a few months ago.

I do like some of the changes for pacing reasons.

In general, I don't mind a lot of the stuff that they've changed/left out. I do wish there was a bit more of the action parts. I understand that cost is an issue, but there's a war, we should see some fighting.

Not thrilled with this new angle at the end of the last episode, but we'l see where it goes.
