Imagine signing an aging 35+ star to a contract for 6m a year until he's almost 40 might not have been a great idea. I know all the unconditional supporters of malkin will be upset at any criticism, but it's the same story. He's always been mercurial and lazy for good stretches, and anyone who thinks he's going to age like fine wine is kidding themselves. You can love malkin for all he's done (which I do) and also not have wanted him resigned and see where he's heading performance wise... and it isn't Crosby-esque.

All that said, this team has numerous problems but I still think they start behind the bench more than anything.

Seems like they extended their vacation.

Geez, I forgot the Steelers were playing, turns out they weren't, really. Turned it on and it's 27-13. Becomes 30-13 because Tomlin spitefully calls timeouts with under 2:00 left and their daddies of the week lined up in the V formation. Then I switch to the Pens, and it's only 1-0, but they look bad, and it soon becomes 2-0, then they're about to be 3-5, and I got disgusted. So the Pens didn't play either.

They're just not good enough to take nights off. Well, they're just not good enough, period.
