I know it's early, but Sid's line isn't exactly sharp.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
They should put Duchene with Sid and Kunitz, though St Louis looks like he's finding his groove there.

Kunitz looks more out of place than St Louis on that line to me.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Kunitz has to be gripping his stick so tight. He needs to pick up his play immediately, one more bad shift and he may be off that line.

Kunitz looks like he is thinking instead of just playing.Idoit40fans wrote:Kunitz looks more out of place than St Louis on that line to me.

Wonder if Maatta's play in the Olympics can imprve his view for Calder if we keeps playing at this level through May (and hopefully July)?

The Olympics have no effect on NHL award voting.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
I know yesterday Babcock was angry with Carter that he was looking to make passes instead of shoot. Kunitz needs to play his game and not worry about anything else.Staggy wrote:Kunitz has to be gripping his stick so tight. It will be interesting to see how Crosby and Kunitz play against better competition though since they tend to play up or down to the other team in most cases but that could just be a Penguin thing.

I believe Del was insinuating that it could raise his profile for a completely subjective award.
So, yes, it theoretically could.

You don't think people who vote will start paying attention more after the Olympics?MRandall25 wrote:The Olympics have no effect on NHL award voting.

I don't think people who vote pay attention to the conference that they don't cover.

Is #22 Jamie Benn? He looks like he put his skates on then walked across the parking lot. He's fallen about 5 times this game.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
I don't think it would really matter anyway. There's about 15 guys ahead of Maatta in the Calder race, and like 13 of them are forwards.
I don't really see his play in the Olympics making a difference one way or the other. He's not going to win the Calder.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Even if it did...nothing that has happened so far means much given who he has played. Nichuschkin is the most interesting rookie in this tournament to me anyway. That goal he scored was BA.

Looks like Maata just got an assist on Finland's 4th.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Given that the games are the same score, I feel like neither is worth watching. Given what should be happening in this game relative to what is happening though, the Canada game is a nail biter.
