I think the hire will be internal. They are sweet on Jon Cooper from their AHL affiliate.

I, however, disagree with VL. I think they should buy him out and try to make a few moves to get younger bodies in there. They do have a decent nucleus with the few young kids. I could see them moving Ryan Malone, as well.mikey287 wrote:I think the hire will be internal. They are sweet on Jon Cooper from their AHL affiliate.

Ok, just now reading about this...conventional wisdom suggests Lindy Ruff or Jon Cooper...so we'll see what happens...if Yzerman improves that defense over the offseason, they've got something there I think...but they better hurry before MSL runs out of gas...

I just hope Guy Boucher doesn't end up in Philly, I think he'd be a great fit for them...

Re: Around the League: Transactions
That Syracuse line was their best in the game I watched yesterday. They do have some high-priced veteran decisions to make. Their D plays like a bunch of FA signings with no chemistry. The Forwards are horrible defensively for the most part too.Kovy27 wrote:I, however, disagree with VL. I think they should buy him out and try to make a few moves to get younger bodies in there. It degenerated from a very tight group right after his hire. It seemed that they really did start tuning him out as was suggested of the Pens and Bylsma.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
From Tampa, I'd still take Malone if Tampa retained at least $1m in salary. Not sure if he still kills penalties for Tampa, but he was good at that here. Edit, just looked it up, he does.

Anaheim signs Radek Dvroak from Davos. 1yr, 675k prorated.
Since he has to pass through waivers, I'm guessing there's no way he makes it to Anaheim.

I wouldn't take Maline if they held all his salary. He's way past his due date and gets injured if he's breathed on. Love Bugsy but not at this point in his career.pcm wrote:From Tampa, I'd still take Malone if Tampa retained at least $1m in salary. Generally and I mean generally, speaking you don't put in a claim in a situation like this. Unless you're really hot on the guy. It's happened before (Nabokov and Randy Robitaille come to mind), but I think the rule of thumb is you don't make this claim unless you really, really think he's an upgrade.JS© wrote:Anaheim signs Radek Dvroak from Davos. 1yr, 675k prorated.

The Ducks have a lot of kids rotating through the fourth line, this will give them a chance to head back to the AHL I presume and let Dvorak just do his thing...always liked Dvorak, except against the Pens, where he's scored roughly 105% of his career goals it seems...

38 mins ago posted.Chris Kelly @StanleyCupC2011 38m Jarome Iginla submitted a list of teams hed accept to trade to: BRUINS, Blackhawks, Kings, and Penguins!!!!!
Is this the kelly of the brunis? oh well. many are twittering Iginla's choices.
I don't think the pens and bryan murray are on trading relationships, but if daniel alfredsson could be a penguin; that would be very good. Depending as always on the price.

Ottawa is the 5 seed right now. Don't think they are selling anyways.
These "approved" lists are always funny. Why would the team or player ever make it public for real?

Mats Zuccarello has agreed to terms with the Rangers, pending a release from the KHL, per Katie Strang and Bob "The Godfather" McKenzie.
Would he have to clear waivers first?

i'm sticking with my prediction that he'll make a hair more than ovechkin, making him the highest paid guy in the league. and he'll be fine with that.columbia wrote:Malkin is looking more like $10M.

Malkin has.the best resume of any of the current top players, so he probably should be the highest paid player in the leagueshmenguin wrote:i'm sticking with my prediction that he'll make a hair more than ovechkin, making him the highest paid guy in the league. and he'll be fine with that.columbia wrote:Malkin is looking more like $10M.
