Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I haven't bought any cases of Penn beer for awhile, but iirc the summer berry Weizen I got last summer was like $28. Would think it would be in that kind of range... At least mid twenties.

Shiner is a Texas beer. Not a big fan of Sweetwater, but seems like others are. Haven't really found a good selection if Florida beers yet.ExPatriatePen wrote:I appreciate the advice. when I was in Jacksonville a couple of weeks ago I was disappointed that the only regional available was Shinerbock.

The Ballast is interesting. Slight smokey flavor, but not obtrusive. Good overall.Eismann wrote:For tonight:

I think Turbodog is a solid brown ale.

Actually, you're right. I enjoy the Turbodog. But I've had their wheat, among other varieties, and just hated it.Kraftster wrote:I think Turbodog is a solid brown ale.
I just tried "Shackamaximum", an American imp stout from Philadelphia Brewing Company. I definitely enjoy it, but it pales in comparison to anything from Founders, or even Big Bear Black Stout. Still a solid beer

I don't like the other Abita stuff I've had, especially Purple Haze.

Purple Haze. gah. Just the thought of that "after taste" it has makes me shudder.

Apparently we just missed this at Mad Mex. Would have much rather tried that than the crappy Bell ale I had...shafnutz05 wrote:Nugget Nectar is simply amazing

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
It is easily Troegs' best offering, and they have some good stuff. Like a hybrid red ale/brown ale/IPA/amber ale. Just a delicious balance of flavors, and the 7.5% ABV is very subtle.the wicked child wrote:Apparently we just missed this at Mad Mex. Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Finally had La Fin Du Monde on tap this weekend. Being that it's my favorite beer, of course I enjoyed it but it seemed like it was missing something. Not sure if it was a cleaner finish or if it was less carbonation. This might be one of the rare beers where I prefer it out of the bottle.
From the bottle: A+
On tap: A
Grading might be subject to change if I find another place that has it on tap.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I was in Charleston, SC for a wedding over the weekend and squeezed in a tour of the local Westbrook brewery. I'd never heard of it, but went with a friend who's a local. They didn't have anything of their own that really stood out (not that their own brews were bad), but they were brewing something for Evil Twin brewing called Femme Fatale that was really good. It was an IPA with Brett yeast, so it tasted like a cross between an IPA and a saison. They didn't any ready yet, but Westbrook was also experimenting with a lot of barrel-aged stuff that looked interesting. Definitely an enjoyable hour or two, if you're in that part of SC.

Doing a tour of Georgia for spring break (Atlanta, Savannah, Jekyll Island). Had a good porter the first night, but forgot the name. Red Brick Porter tonight, which was solid. Both Atlanta brews.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
It seems as if Storm king stout isn't as good as it used to be, it's still good, but something has changed, it still messes you up bad if you make a night out of it though

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Bought a mix case of Goose Island beers. I see now that Goose Island has been purchased by Anheuser-Busch InBev, and indeed the beers are from a A-B plant in New York. Still, they’re not bad at all. So far, the 312 wheat ale is crisp and refreshing (although a little lacking in those wheat-beer banana esters for my taste), and the IPA was pleasantly hoppy. I’ve yet to try the Honkers Ale or Summertime.
