He was far better. He has two idiots on either side of him and it makes him lower his game to their level.

You know who is better than the talent on the Fan?

Ken Laird
Chris Mack
Mike Logan

Those three are actually better... and that is flat out amazing.

Edit: I would rather hang out in a bar with Randy Baumann and listen to him talk about New Orleans all night than listen to Vinny and Cook.

I like TribLive Radio and am glad to add Laird to the mix of people I can listen too. I didn't think that would happen.
Hey Fedko, calm down, there's no need to yell.

That's because espn 1250 (w/madden) >>>>>>>>>>>>> the fan. I'm not going to kid myself, as soon as madden left and the drive took over the station sucked.

And there are plenty of reasons why it was better.

- Listening to Matt Williamson talk about football is the only time I ever actually learn things about the game and what's driving the results.
- The Madden and Hamm thursday show was great.
- The weekend afternoon shows, during football season they would have williamson on to talk, during hockey they would have burnside, and during baseball they would have keith law. The fan is littered with obnoxiuos personalities that make no effort to provide depth of coverage. They just want to drive sensationalism down our throats.

Now THAT'S over the line. There's one way this station could get worse, and it's by adding that smarmy d-bag.

Paul Alexander this morning talking about cool bars that used to be in Oakland followed right up about how the commute on the Parkway East is a terrible commute. Full of fail.

Chris Mueller is the only really good thing about that station. I don't know what it is but he's just good. The wrestling intro music coming back from every break is a nice touch, he takes his job seriously but not so seriously that he has to be right about everything, he realizes he's the late shift guy and uses that as self deprecation but is tongue in cheek about it. On top of that he actually does know sports. Just an entertaining listen.

Speaking of, whatever happened to him? Obviously he got canned at 1250 and was never hired at 93.7. Can't remember if he ever had a stint on Trib Live Radio or not.

I follow him on twitter, and he used to tweet constantly. Then all of a sudden, account is gone and he no longer is there.

I didn't mind him that much, he knew his hockey rather well.

I bought some shoes at Macys last christmas and he was working in the shoe section. I felt bad for him, he was the of the nicest dudes ive met in the media.

I wasn't a big fan of his at first, but he gradually grew on me and I thought he ran a great show over at TribLive. That was right about the time he took to Twitter and also had his blog (which was VERY well written).

From what I understand, he was let go at TribLive and it really blindsided him. I don't think he was fired...I think it was a cost-cutting move. He said via Twitter a few times that he kept trying to get his foot back in the door in radio, but nothing ever materialized.

About a month ago or so, he resurfaced briefly on Twitter and explained that since he and his wife had a baby, he's been working two jobs and basically doesn't tweet or blog much because he doesn't have time. Understandable.

Sucks, because I was really taking a liking to his work.

His commute only sucks because he has to do it sober now. Pesky little thing called DUI and all.

I REALLY wish Vinnie would stop using the term 'well lubricated' about drunk people and drinking.

- When did "Jim Colony Reads an Athlete's Tweet" become "Jim Colony Reads Ricky Gary's Tweet?"

- Why don't they kill this segment?

based on a quick search of this thread, we have been whining about athletes tweets since september 2010.
