With D at such a premium. I'm really surprised Whitney couldn't even get a guaranteed deal...

He's had some pretty bad injury issues pretty much since he last played for the Pens. Since he played 76 games in 07-08, he hasn't played more than 62 (09-10). Last 3 seasons, he's played 35, 51, and 34, respectively.

The reaction to the Cleary signing is hilarious down here. As Mikey said, this is a funny contract even by Philadelphia's standards. No idea why they even need Cleary.

Dan Cleary, a UFA all summer, is reportedly signing a 3-yr deal w/Philly. 1 yr would've been fine. 2 is a stretch. This is a head scratcher.
