I really don't get the Assassin becoming a subconscious projection and coming up as a strange person to SDD.

There's really no parallel in the movie that I can think of to explain this. I don't think columbia is in limbo because only dreamers go to limbo. The trained defenders in the movie were just projections and the assassin became a normal projection. So, I don't think he's in limbo.

With that in mind, I am totally confused. About the only thing that makes sense is what canaan suggested -- the reds have some means of controlling the writeups and they could set up the whole columbia assassin claim. But that seems really far-fetched.

SDD is supposedly the seer and saw that Columbia is someone who doesn't belong.

Victory conditions exist when one of the following criteria are met:

1.) All reds have been eliminated
2.) The subconscious uncovers the identity of the dreamer, and contacts the Target waking him up from the dream.

So this further confuses me. There's only one dreamer in the movies. So, if the the target can use his training to see what parts of his mind are his, it would seem to suggest that the target is dreaming. SDD says he's not the target, and I thought people seemed to agree that the Target and the dreamer are different people.

The only other thing I can think of from the movie is that Cobb brings certain projections of his own into the dream, so even though they are in Fisher's dream, Cobb brings parts of his own subconscious into the dream. But, I don't see that would be helpful to the Target here.

Maybe SDD is just a plain old seer?

I think doc is playing dungeon-master on us, and we just need to get farther into the game for things to come into place more.

But if we are dealing with multiple levels, the Target would only need to be the dreamer at the deepest one. Right?
