Slegr has become the new assistant coach of the Czech Extraleague team HC Litvinov. He will still keep his House seat (though I think he is slowly preparing for the exit - I don't think he has much chance to defend thanks to the above mentioned defection from the Social Democrats). And yes, his hairline shows he is 40-something! :D

With his team falling into the 4-team play-out group (i.e. facing relegation from the Czech Extraleague), Slegr decided to UNRETIRE to become the No. 7 D-man for HC Litvinov. So far, he has played in 3 or 4 games. Until today, he had just 1 fighting major. However, today he had 2 assists on 4 goals scored by Litvinov in the last 5 minutes of regulation, leading the team to 6:3 victory over HC Energie Carlsbad.

With 3 play-out games to play, Litvinov is 6 points ahead (=2 regulation W) of the last place HC Mlada Boleslav.

Slegr still keeps his House Rep. seat - so I believe he is the only active politician to ever record a point in the history of the Czech hockey.

Slegr tried to get elected as a Senator, but failed badly:

He will keep his House seat until the next elections, but it looks like his political career is almost over.

One of the avant-garde art groups just posted their newest art piece called "Moral Reform", currently on display in Prague DOX art gallery. It contains personal cell phone numbers of all House Representatives and the number of the Czech President. Next to the picture, they installed a telephone (check the lower left corner of the picture) that the visitors of the art exhibition can use to send an anonymous text message to anybody from that list. According to the authors "we gave people the most direct method of democracy." And the visitors apparently do text! The first text message went to the ex-Mayor of Prague and said "{You} thief!".

(For the Penguins fans, the NW region of the picture may be the most interesting  )

More about the authors' intentions:

The last (short) speech of Slegr's political career. He stepped down as the member of the House of Representatives today (video inside):

He is being laughed at, because he announced empathetically announced that he "is going back to the clean environment among athletes"

[Incidentally, he stepped down after arguably the biggest scandal of the Czech politics (I don't think he was involved). Yesterday, Czech Police raided the offices of several top politicians, lobbyists, and most importantly, the Head of the Czech Prime Minister's office (a pretty ruthless lady - sort of female version of Rahm Emanuel). All of them ended up in jail. A lot of bribery suspected, plus the Head apparently had an affair with the Prime Minister, and she ordered the Czech Secret Service to spy on the Prime Minister's wife in order to find something that would get the Prime Minister to divorce her. The top Czech Secret Service guy was also jailed. Interestingly, the Prime Minister announced the intention to divorce amicably on Tuesday. The affair has not been confirmed until today.]

Slegr scores for the first time after 4 years:
(first video in this link)

...and, in the next game, he shows you can't turn back time... :(

Incidentally, Slegr scored on the parliamentary elections day in the Czech Republic. Slegr's former (he did not run this time) political party LEV 21 gained the support of 0.07% of voters :D

50 shades of Jiri? :)

You have to use Google Chrome to get this translated (simple Google Translate won't do). The translation is funny, but the computer does quite a good job (after all, the original article is from a tabloid) - except in the paragraph that is titled "Debilitating..." it should be "demanded GROUP...".

Enjoy!!!
