Our best guess is Hossa was injured in the finals after shouldering the responsibility for selecting the wrong team as having the best chance to win the Stanley Cup.

Will Chicago be able to put him on LTIR while he's out? That'll somewhat help with their cap issues...

Their cap issues are next year mostly. LTIR for Hossa for this season helping is doubtful.

They need either Bob Gainey to make a dumb trade for Huet/Campbell or hope those guys get career ending injuries. They really risk losing at least 2/3 of Toews, Kane, and Keith next year.

The saga continues:
The NHL is investigating whether Marian Hossa’s new 12-year, $62.8-million (all terms US) contract with the Blackhawks circumvents the collective bargaining agreement and the salary cap, Sun Media has learned.

The ’Hawks could be facing a maximum fine of $5 million and the loss of draft picks if the league’s investigation uncovers proof of allegations that Chicago discussed the possibility of Hossa retiring before the end of the deal, which would end Hossa’s cap hit.

These teams are fashioning the deals in the hopes the agreement changes in the future. That said Hossa will be playing in Detroit in 2020...

If this thread is moved to the Test forum, and no one posts in it for 3 days, will it die?
