Not sure if serious ... Why would Spades be good when he bid Clubs?

Because I (still) don't fully understand what's going on. You said "A lot of one suit is good".

Troy said that, not me. But the point was that a lot of the suit you bid on is good.

Say you bid Clubs. Then the widow comes and it has a lot of Spades. That means that not only are you not getting the Clubs you want, but you're also not able to get rid of any Spades or Diamonds or Hearts you have. You're not able to get void in a suit, which means you cannot use your trump (Clubs) to win tricks when your opponents have higher (non-trump) cards than you.

So let's say that after the widow you end up with, say, the 9S when Clubs is trump. If your opponents play the mediocre 10S, you have to give them that 9S and they take the trick. But if you had been able to get void in Spades, you could have trumped that 10S with the smallest of your Clubs.

The goal of the widow is to a) get as much trump as possible, AND b) get void in as many suits as possible. When a widow comes that has a lot of non-trump stuff -- especially non-trump stuff of one suit -- it's bad.
