Ugh, no pic but I know what that is. Budweiser and Clamato might be the most unholy thing ever created

I loves me some stouts, but have not brought myself to try oyster. I don't like oysters, though. So there.shafnutz05 wrote:My wife stopped at Wegman's, and I asked her to pick me up a stout.
My love for stouts may be tested here. I absolutely despise oysters (love mussels though)...I didn't even know brewing beer with oysters was a thing. Supposed to be good though

Wife came home with a case of Smithwick's
Had the Brooklyn pumpkin beer at dinner the other night. Not bad at all. Very nutmeggy.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Last weekend, I bought the Shock Top Midnight Wheat. It is not pleasant.
Today I picked up a Fall variety Sam Adams box at Sam's Club.
2 regular Sam Adams
2 Octoberfests (really good)
2 Harvest Pumpkins
2 Dunkleweissen
2 IPA
2 Hazel Brown
Just opened the first Octoberfest. Tonight should be a good night with Assassin's Creed 3 and beer. I still have 2 Midnight Wheats left that I might try to down after a few better beers.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
How many Octoberfests have you had? I would struggle to classify SA's as "really good"... I'm not SA hater, but their Octoberfest is in the "I'd drink it if nothing better were available" category.
Have you tried any of the others (aside from the Bsoton Lager)? Don't think I ever had any of those.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
My classification is based on comparing to other SA brews and the fact that I was unfortunate enough to drink the Shock Tops mentioned above. Maybe it's relative?
It's only 5:30, so I'm just on my first beer. I will update the others as I have them. I'm interested in the Hazel Brown and the Pumpkin mostly.
I have had their IPA. I'm not a huge IPA drinker, so I can't give a good review of it at all. I just don't like the taste of IPA beers in general.

Had SA Oktoberfest on tap lat week. It was decent, not great.
Had ST Creme Brûlée tonight. Very good, but 22 oz is a little much. Better 12 oz to cap off a night.

Just had some Southern Tier 2XChristmas. If you're looking for something that just straight up tastes like christmas, this is it. Orange peel and spices. It's pretty good, but could only drink one.

I'll also note that my taste in beer appears to be rather different than the regulars in this thread.
Just started a Hazel Brown.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Brown was rough on the first sip but got better as it went and was good at the end (this is how I feel with New Castles). The hazelnut was not very present at all, so it was basically just a brown ale.
On to the pumpkin. Never had their pumpkin ale before, and I didn't know it existed as I figured Octoberfest was the only seasonal for fall.

I bought a six pack of Sam Adams Winter Lager today @ Giant Eagle. Bought it for next weekend. I'll need it after my weekend install goes in.

For a mass production beer, the pumpkin ale is really solid.

I bought that back in September, the only beers that I actually liked out of the whole case were the Octoberfests and Pumpkins, the rest were nasty, IMObhaw wrote:Last weekend, I bought the Shock Top Midnight Wheat. It is not pleasant.

I went to the Southern Tier Brewery over the weekend. Really cool place, spent a good 4 hours making sure to try everything.count2infinity wrote:Just had some Southern Tier 2XChristmas. 2Xmas Ale- exactly what C2i said, fashioned after glogg (it's swedish country up there), enjoyed 1 but no more, smell was incredible.
Porter - really solid, ed fitz still my fave
Phin & Matts - very easy to drink pale ale, liked it a lot, will probably keep on hand at the house
Rasberry Wheat - very refreshing, would be great in summertime
2X Stout - one of my faves of the day, $5 growler fill up made for an interesting car ride home
Live pale ale - my least favorite of the day, would not try again
Unearthly IPA - this was some IPA, last beer at the place and it destroyed me
Old Man Winter - pretty good for a Winter beer, goes down easy, bought a case to enjoy
Oak Aged Back Burner Barley Wine Style Ale - didn't think I would like this, but it was very tasty, 1 was enough for me
Dü Witte - Good white belgium, I think I was the only one in our group to like it though
Mokah Imperial Stout - never ever had a beer with such taste, incredible
Oat - by far my favorite beer of the day and probably new favorite oatmeal stout
creme brulee - creme brulee in a bottle, did not care for it, too sweet for me
Pumpking - I usually don't like pumpkin beers, but I see why this is so highly regarded, it was excellent
Krampus - got a bottle for home, have not tried yet, sounds good.

How was the food and the facility? I saw they did a major expansion and if they did something similar to what Victory has that would be amazing.

My decision to kill a bottle of wine last night is seeming ok, after reading that.
